*dances* Thank you interwebs. So for a while now I've been sitting at an APR of 29.990% on my credit card thanks to a few month where I paid late thanks to just not having the funds. This was compounded by the fact that for 6 months I was paying nearly $50 a month on it and making absolutely no headway.
So I started browsing the interwebs for advice on negotiating my APR down (as of course the credit card website in question gave no tips on this). The biggest responce was simply, "Just ask them to" followed by "threaten to get a 0% APR card and transfer the balance to another company."
So I called and asked. My new APR, just for asking is now 15.990%. It's not fixed though, so that may hurt in the long run, but once I pull my balance back under half I can renegotiate to pull it further back and get it as a fixed rate.
So yeah, I'm finally gonna start making headway on the dern thing. ^_^
So lesson of the story people, if you have a nasty APR, and you've been making at least your minimum payments, don't feel afraid to call in and ask them if they can lower it!
