Moots etc...

Well, since there have been requests to fill people in on what's been going on, I'll put y'all out of your misery...

We got through the group stage on Saturday, which was kinda surprising since we'd lost one round - against Kings London - and were pretty close winners in the 2nd - Against Singapore (the teams were cut at that stage from 20 to 8). However, since both Kings and Singapore got through as well, it kinda figures...

In the third round, also held on Saturday, we beat Sri Lanka (yes, it WAS a very international moot!), and I finally managed to get some sleep (see below...); the results of other rounds - where Kings were beaten by Cambridge - meant that we would be mooting in the semi-finals against the latter; on the day of the Boat Race!

As it turned out, we didn't think we'd done that well against the Tabs; but, in fact, it was closely in our favour, and we got through TO THE FINAL, which was totally beyond my expectations - and Nat's too, I think. Said Final was against Singapore, and we were appearing in exactly the same roles (us as appellants and them as respondents), this time in front of two Lord Justices of Appeal and a High Court Judge. Which was QUITE an experience, to say the least...

Anyhow, we lost the final on the mooting, but still got a runner-up cup and book vouchers and books etc- as well as lots of VERY positive feedback from the Judges, with whom we got to have a sort of tutorial-like discussion of our mooting skills after the public final (I believe there's going to be a copy of that somewhere...). So that was all much fun; and I think Jacobs LJ suggested he may write Nat and I a letter of recommendation if we wanted to go into the Bar, which would be QUITE SOMETHING!

This was all despite the fact that I was up until 8 am on Friday, and then had my bag lost by EasyJet, containing my camera, clothes, and phone chargers (amongst other important items). AND, it's not yet been found, from what I can gather - and I can't get through the bloody helpline number they gave me. GRRRR at their uselessness.

Oh, and of course I was up till 5 am on Friday/Saturday preparing the bundles. Hence my surprise at even managing to get out of the group stages. Got lots of sleep on Sat/Sun night (10 hours!!), but didn't really sleep too well tonight - hopefully will catch up on it on the train down to Cornwall... Oh the joys of 5 1/2 hour train trips...

Comically enough, I ended up doing one of the rounds in one of Nat's shirts and my blue trousers, and another in a newly-purchased pair of trousers from Primark which I bought so quickly I didn't realise they'd be a size or two too short and were faulty (didn't have a button at the front). So I had quite a few comments about that... :S (not from the judges, obviously!)

Thankfully, the nice Primark people reimbursed me for it - albeit today, after I went out and bought a new pair of trousers at the Next sale on Saturday. But still.

Aaanyway, rant re. clothes over.

Actually, time for lunch, so rant over generally!

Till the next time...
