Um I cleaned a mill today. And a distillery. Tomorrow: with shoes, and a newly fashioned set of stays - who knows! - I will be portraying someone from olde tymey. Wish me luck!

Well, now is as good a time as any to announce that I'm leaving Colonial Williamsburg.

I've got a job doing first-person interpretation and interpretation at the working gristmill and distillery at Mount Vernon, aka George Washington's home, aka I'll be in Washington D.C.!

So I worked during the tropical storm. This was intense. I got very wet, then reported for work at the one building in the Historic Area with a fireplace THAT DOES NOT DRAW. So I stripped down to shift, stays and petticoat (i.e. still fully clothed, but colonially naked) and ended up with my clothes strewn about on assorted ropes to dry off. ( Read more... )
