Singapore here we come!

tomorrow we're off to Singapore! :D
a lot has been going on since my last post, but i don't have time to go into details about it now. suffice it to say that i have been working like mad on my visa application and it's now practically complete! it was a LOT of work.... too many many hours of running around, sitting in libraries pouring over papers etc etc but Thank Tomato God it's just about done. to give you an idea of how much work this application has been, the application is almost 2" thick. 2" of paperwork on my life history and me and David's life together (among other things). ugh. oh, and there has been a big change in when/how we will be applying.
because my current visa expires on July 27th and isn't renewable, this trip to Singapore was originally just to get me out of the country so that i could apply for a different visa to come back into the country on. then once on the new visa i would apply for the Partner Visa that i've been working so hard on. however, since formulating that round-about plan i have since discovered another way of applying for the Partner Visa that doesn't even require a trip abroad; i would just have to apply for the Partner Visa on the very last day of my current visa. i have decided to go with this new plan because with the old plan there was a risk of being deported. :P now i will apply for the PV on July 27th, which is just days after we get back from Singapore. this new plan made this trip to Singapore completely unnecessary, but the trip was already paid for and the tickets were non-refundable, so *shrugs*. we're going to enjoy our trip. :)
for me, this trip is going to be really unique. usually when i travel i go for the overall touristy experience unless i have a decent amount of time, then i try to head off the "beaten track" more. with this trip, however, i will be focusing on food. FOOD FOOD FOOD. Singapore is a MAJOR hub for asian food and GOD TOMATO GOD do i love asian food!! while in Singapore i am going to try to sample E V E R Y T H I N G and i'm going to keep an offline food journal complete with photos! i might post the journal or excerpts from it when i get back. might. i'll be keeping this journal with my new tablet! 8) that's right, i'm horrible. i bought a Motorola XOOM Wifi (and it is "teh shit" btw) which will be on my person throughout the trip. :)
oh, and let it be known that Singapore is a mecca for shoppers and i am a self-admitted Shop-A-Holic, but i will try my hardest to not buy anything! i spent all my money on the XOOM and really shouldn't by anything.... except for a keitai (cell phone) strap and boots because i really really need those. >_>;;
ANYWAY, i have lots more to post about and will have even more to post about when i get back, so hopefully my LJ will start to see more activity. see you in 2 weeks! 8)
