so we've been back from Singapore for over a week now... i'm sorry for not having posted about the trip yet. i swear i'll post about it this week!
wednesday we handed in my Partner Visa application at the Brisbane processing center. there were a lot of people there so the wait was longer than i'd expected, but we finally got to sit at the desk of a guy named Matt. upon setting the big, heavy envelope that was the application onto his desk, he slid out all of the contents and briefly looked it all over. while typing what seemed to be a million things into his computer, he complimented me on the completeness of my application. he said that it was rare to receive such a nice application. :)) i have to admit that my application was as nice as it was only thanks to having done months of research at
a forum on Aussie visas/immigration. yay for research!
after lots more typing, he gave me a visa grant letter detailing the new visa that he was issuing me, a Bridging Visa A. as my Work and Holiday Visa was expiring that very day, i needed the BVA to remain legally in Australia while my Partner Visa is being processed. the BVA has the same conditions as my WHV, including the 6 month limitation per employer. :/ however, i was encouraged to apply to have the limitation revoked so that i can have full working rights while waiting for the PV and i'm now working on that application..... thankfully applying for full work rights is free because paying for the PV application cost $2,960. >:[ hopefully i'll be granted full working rights, but i'm still worried that no one may want to hire me regardless of work rights while on a BVA as technically my application could be denied and i could be kicked out of the country any day now. :/ *sigh*
anyway, the PV application is in-- w00t!! that's a huge weight off my shoulders, although i can't breathe entirely easy yet. i submitted the application missing 2 out of 3 police clearance checks (from the US, Japan & Australia) simply because the US & Japanese ones haven't come back yet despite having applied for them a month ago. :/ hopefully i'll receive them within the next month... then i'll forward them to the visa processing center and i'll have to avoid sitting on my hands for 9~12 months anticipating the visa. ^^; 9~12 months is the estimated processing time that i was quoted btw. *siiiighh*
once i hear back about my application for full working rights (should be within a couple of weeks), i'll start job hunting. until then, i have a dozen hobbies to juggle.
