obligatory stuff: Sports Day at Namegawa today started out awesome-- it was very interesting to watch because it was different from any of the previous Sports Days i`ve been to, it being a small school and all. the ES & JHS students were combined and divided into two teams and there were even events for kids from the local kindergarten & adult residents. it was cool. :]
and then it rained-- POURED just as the kids and staff were about to do an original Yosakoi performance that they`d been working so hard on. :[ but even in 大雨 (torrential rain) the students were やる気満々 (eager & determined to do it), so Yosakoi was performed as planned. after Yosakoi, however, the rest of the morning events that could be done in the school gym were and then the closing relay race and ceremony were held back on the soaked field as it had stopped raining.
the afternoon events (which would have been a special Sports Day for the locals) were canceled.
more important stuff: my new laptop (officially named "すごいヤツ/Awesome Shit") came last night! :DDD it came at around 8:15pm when i`d just started dinner and i had to be in bed by 10pm, so i decided not to even take it out of the box as i`d be tempted to play with it all night... D; so i just stared at it in anticipation with the occasional drool.
i will try not to go on and on about how <3333333333 i find it, but the monitor... D; the display... i had it next to my netbook as i was moving stuff between the two and omg the difference is phenomenal. D; everything viewed on my netbook looks like shit comparatively. IS THIS THE POWER OF FULL HD & SONY X-BRITE TECHNOLOGY???? i am a believer!!! D; my now-dead VAIO`s display couldn`t even touch this one`s. EVERYthing looks so much nicer. the speaker`s sound quality is awesome too. my old VAIO`s was such shit. after work i went to BOOKOFF (used awesome-stuff store) and bought my first Bluray movie so i can fully try this awesomeness out. D;
oh god.... i can remember my first ever DVDs... it was such a huge step from VHS. *sobs & blows nose from the nostalgia of the thought* and now it`s Bluray... i wonder just how big a difference this will be. is it really all that? will DVDs become as obsolete as VHS?

anyway, tomorrow i will be at the BOE the entire day and such a day would be wasted if i didn`t use it to breakin/setup the new laptop. so as big and heavy as it is (the size/res of the 16.4" screen is still blowing my mind x_x), i will lug it to the office with me in the morning. expect possible excited spam; apologies in advance. <3
made a random yummy soup tonight that i`d like to make again sometime, so note to self:
ingredients: bean sprouts + leek + carrots (pre-cut & packaged), 鍋物用 tai (type of fish), ajinomoto chicken bouillon cubes, shoyu dashi, random seasoning.
