my theory on why there are no funny women is that they have more language centers in their brains-- take any great comedian, from the late george carlin to richard pryor to mitch hedberg: the content of their humor is invariably painful, it touches on deep hypocricies, pains, injustices. they poke those pain centers just enough to make an audience uncomfortable, to provoke a response. and because the audience is at a comedy show, the response is usually laughter
