I'm kind of mixed on the new rules. On one hand, SO GLAD that shows like VMars and Firefly aren't eligible. Otoh, with NO old shows included, there goes my annual classic TV gif hunt. :'(
Also, they had some really puzzling omissions from the main brackets. We have to vote Mad Men into the brackets? Really?
And yeah, I can't say I mind the new rules (even though me and my friends are using a thing nobody liked to totally circumvent them, lol), it's kind of a cool idea actually to keep it current and not just about the legacy good-feelings people have for Buffy/Firefly/VM/X Files/etc. That said, oh my god are some of the fandom choices just *bizarre*. I'm so sad Mad Men is likely gonna be shut out.
Yeah, I'm sure if I was picking a bunch of shows for each of these categories, my bias and oversights based on what I/my friends like would be equally bad. I do think this is the first time there's even been a write-in option like this.
SERIOUSLY - I SECOND THIS... SERIOUSLY!!! PLEASE?! *besgs* I'd rather see something... political or something *coughs*
... >>" I'm being too obvious now aren't I?
But like - anything about life on the colonies? In general? I would love that - I was holding so much hope for Caprica (which I still have to watch in entirety - so far, I dropped off after the pilot movie because so much drama - and it was reminding me a bit of uhmm... Chinese TVB dramas - no one quite does drama like them :)). Everyday life. THough I guess, a lot of people who are in it for the war and action and adventure would possibly drop off... *sigh*
I voted just for you, because I quite honestly have very little interest in the bracket. All the shows I love the most aren't eligible, just because they've been canceled for decades or whatever, and besides, work. (I want an employee. *sob*)
Lol, it's impossible not to get sucked in, I find! :p Sometimes I guess it's a mercy when my favorites go early, because I think, "OK I guess I'm done then..."...but then I still get sucked back in!
I haven't been keeping tabs -- what looks to be tops for drama? I've pretty much given up my Nashville hopes, but I thought Mad Men was doing well last time I looked :(
(Whatever. All my efforts for Jesse Pinkman! At least until he inevitably gets knocked out because not enough people watch and he's a guy.)
(Though speaking of guys, I might have to jump on the James Van Der Beek as James Van Der Beek train in comedy, because seriously, he's pretty genius on Don't Trust the B -- ).
It looks last I checked like "The Americans" will probably get at least one of the slots (it had over 100 votes), and for the second one, I saw a lot of different shows with many votes--Bomb Girls, Parenthood, The Borgias...
According to my find and count extension, Leverage is in the lead with 170+, Suits next with 140ish. Americans/Borgias/Mad Men are all in the 10something region ):
Aww, crap! :( Well if that is the case, at least it wasn't so close that only a few more votes would have swayed it or something. Thanks for the head's up (lol I wasn't counting the others yet).
*bitter that out of shows that only just began a month ago, "House of Cards" and not "The Americans" got arbitrarily picked*
