I haven't been keeping tabs -- what looks to be tops for drama? I've pretty much given up my Nashville hopes, but I thought Mad Men was doing well last time I looked :(
(Whatever. All my efforts for Jesse Pinkman! At least until he inevitably gets knocked out because not enough people watch and he's a guy.)
(Though speaking of guys, I might have to jump on the James Van Der Beek as James Van Der Beek train in comedy, because seriously, he's pretty genius on Don't Trust the B -- ).
It looks last I checked like "The Americans" will probably get at least one of the slots (it had over 100 votes), and for the second one, I saw a lot of different shows with many votes--Bomb Girls, Parenthood, The Borgias...
According to my find and count extension, Leverage is in the lead with 170+, Suits next with 140ish. Americans/Borgias/Mad Men are all in the 10something region ):
Aww, crap! :( Well if that is the case, at least it wasn't so close that only a few more votes would have swayed it or something. Thanks for the head's up (lol I wasn't counting the others yet).
*bitter that out of shows that only just began a month ago, "House of Cards" and not "The Americans" got arbitrarily picked*
How can they tell, re: socks, though? I mean do they really take the time to check through every journal that voted?
And ugh yeah that one is definitely the worst, most WTF inclusion--does anyone who participates in this even watch that?! I bet that will have an extremely low number of votes in the prelims...
Under "View Answers", the blogs are arranged earliest created to latest created, so I assume they'll start from there? I think they'll only really check if the races are too close to call or you can tell from the campaigns/comments that it's an insane race (eg Sansa v Everyone last year lol)? New mods this time though, so anything goes.
Lol is that how they are ordered? :s Because I was wondering about why the newer votes didn't just go to the bottom of the list, lmao. Thanks for solving that mystery!
Yeah, it used to be like that but at some point LJ changed it. Which always throws me because the order of the answers looks so random, but I guess it really helps something like this, they can easily find the ones that were all created while FMM was going on and ignore them if they have to.
Yeah, I don't even watch The Americans but I thought House of Cards stood out as a particularly weak choice as smaller, newer fandoms go. *shrug* I don't have the patience to run a thing like this myself though.
True, re: running it. If you ever have a chance, you should check out The Americans though--really good, and compelling enough that you are totally rooting for the Cylon Soviet agents to succeed, lol! ;)
It's right up my alley in a lot of ways, but I had this odd reaction to the pilot like... it struck me as the kind of show that would disappoint me in the long run? I may try to catch up after it's had a full season or something and I can marathon a bunch of eps instead of forgetting it's on week to week. :)
While I totally agree re: running it, that's not stopping me from questioning some of the choices.
I actually like the idea of having a few smaller fandoms auto-included and letting some of the bigger ones battle it out for community choice, but there are def. some inclusions that seem odd.
House of Cards is one -- it got a lot of buzz because Netflix, but does it have any fandom?
And as people said above, Beauty and the Beast? Really? If they wanted to include a new CW show, Arrow seems to be more popular...
Thanks! Too bad about Mad Men, though I'm not surprised about Leverage. And at least I like Suits, though not enough to campaign for one of the characters* in the way I would have for some of the other options.
*To me it's really one of those shows where the dynamics BETWEEN characters is what shines.
It's funny because if I recall correctly, "Leverage" is ALWAYS on the verge of being left out of the bracket (I remember at least once it was the 'wildcard' spot in competition with another show) and I sort of forget about it having a lot of fans!
I actually don't know anything about Suits, I always think of it as that show that looks like White Collar but isn't. *g*

Maybe next year!

(I K R. Then again, I'm so pressed that Beauty and the Beast got a nom and not any other Sci-fi show like who cares about BatB)
