PETITION TO HAVE AN UNDERWHELMING AND POORLY-DISTRIBUTED SPINOFF MOVIE EVERY TWO YEARS JUST TO STAY RELEVANT IN FMM. GO FORTH, DAVID EICK.

Any chance we could have an underwhelming and poorly-distributed spinoff that focuses on someone other than Bill Adama next time. Like, IDK, anyone?

Seriously. I'm not a Bill-hater, but every single time?

SERIOUSLY - I SECOND THIS... SERIOUSLY!!! PLEASE?! *besgs* I'd rather see something... political or something *coughs*

... >>" I'm being too obvious now aren't I?

But like - anything about life on the colonies? In general? I would love that - I was holding so much hope for Caprica (which I still have to watch in entirety - so far, I dropped off after the pilot movie because so much drama - and it was reminding me a bit of uhmm... Chinese TVB dramas - no one quite does drama like them :)). Everyday life. THough I guess, a lot of people who are in it for the war and action and adventure would possibly drop off... *sigh*

YES, THANK YOU. And you guys like Adama way more than I do! :p

Caprica actually had moments of being *really* good and then other times when I was totally disinterested. (I still never watched the last handful of episodes that they dumped on TV/Hulu all at once, but I did see most of it.) I feel like it never quite found itself but had potential. But it feels like the lesson they took from that was like "well that wasn't successful, I guess there were too many chicks and people missed the war and space battles" so they made B&C in the total opposite direction and it was dismal.

Honestly I've always wished they would just knock it off with the spinoffs entirely, because what I loved most on BSG was the characters, like *the specific characters*, so why bother without them? (Or just one of them aged-down all the time.) But if they INSIST on it and I'm never gonna get my Earth 1/Baby Cylons show, I'd rather it be something that expands on the Colonies like you said.

Yeah, I basically miss the characters as we knew them, which is possibly why I haven't had much luck with the spin-offs. The main draw they had for me was the possibility of learning more about the colonies, colonial culture and oh! BABY CYLONS! :3 Though I'm guessing that is meant figuratively rather than literally?
Can you imagine it? Bossy!Cavil ordering everyone to sit at their desks because they are all going to play school while their parents are out and about, and then rewarding the other models with candy and lollipops, and when they ask where it comes from (because, usually they were only allowed "healthy" foods specially tailored to their organic bodies), and he tells them that the candies are produced by the one true god for them because they behaved and were good. :D

(Or, you know, a much more serious series analyzing Cylon culture and thought processes and living. :3)

Hahaha, there was actually JUST a post about literal baby Cylons on tumblr! But no, I would also accept figurative babies as they first developed and seeing more of that whole world.

Yes, about those specific characters. BSG was such an amazing show, but it was that cast and those characters and that set-up that made it the show we all fell in love with. I'm interested in the world around it, definitely, but I don't have a connection with it without Laura and Bill and Lee and Kara and Gaius and Zarek and all the others. I want to learn about it through them, as an ensemble.

I actually don't want a Laura spin-off. I don't trust them not to ruin her backstory in some way or get someone to play young!Laura who is all wrong.

If they were to do anything, I've always loved the idea of something set on Kobol, pre-Exodus from there, with the tribes and the pantheon walking among them and all that. And then they could get our bbs back to play the actual gods, as cameos. Tricia as Aphrodite, for example. Mary as Hera or Athena. Jamie as Apollo. And it'd just leave us with this knowledge that there was something extra-special about our favourite BSG characters that enabled them to do what they did, without actually wrecking thei backstories or overdoing one character.

Ohhh I love that idea, why don't you work for Syfy?

Because they are nuts and haven't asked me to go work there.

I really do think it would be interesting. It'd be very different, but we'd have all these proper connections and interesting backstory and you could bring our gorgeous cast back occasionally without wrecking the characters or trying to somehow pretend that they are their own younger selves despite the fact that they look five years older. I always wanted more about the Colonial gods.

That's actually been my fear of any kind of Final Five movie/thing - I like my head-canon and I fear any actual 'canon' thing would be terrible. I already have to discount the stupid comic book, which doesn't exactly fill me with great hope that they'd do what I want in any bonus show.

But Kobol could be fun with less scope of ruination (though a lot of scope for awfulness, lol).

I'M SORRY BUT IT'S CANON* NOW, KARA IS TIGH'S GRANDMA OR SAM IS A HOBO OFF THE STREET.

*it's not canon at all

I was actually not really thinking of Laura, but I'd just love something very calm and gen and story-focused (a la Crash or some other story of intersecting lives of everyday people... just for a view of everyday colonial life - without war, etc. - LOL - I have a weakness for those movies ^_^").

BUT OH MY! I'd love to watch Kobol, pre-Exodus. An earlier cycle. Also, the character cameos would be interesting because it would be a meta treatment of the pantheon since the Greek pantheon traditionally embodied human traits more than some other deities. :)

ETA: I actually forgot to address any attempt to make a Laura-centric spinoff, and yes, definitely ditto on that. ><" I lost a lot of faith in the writers when I read one interview and they mentioned that they sort of brought her cancer back because they didn't really know what to do with her storyline when she wasn't dying. >>" I *headdesk*ed so many times following that.
