The feeling of being pushed back to the other four came with the announcement of their new drama. It was quite illogical, but still the two in the front got more attention now. Again. Many jokes were made about it. Some hurt more, some not. Most of the time he just fled into the arms of his boyfriend. Most of the time he didn’t tell the other about his worries and just enjoyed the comfort he got offered. Some times he told him what was on his mind and got reassured, they won’t let him fall back again. There were also the times he got made fun of. Those were the worst times. They often ended in a smaller or bigger fight. Just like this one particular time.
“You should be happy, you don’t have to stand in the middle now. You no longer have to be that nervous before every show. They no longer expect you to speak that much. Just relax and enjoy entertaining the audience.”
It were phrases like this that hurt him the most. Yes he got used to the attention he got in the front. He learned to enjoy it, to take it as granted. Now that it was no longer there, he missed it. It was irritating to no longer have many cameras focused on him. The questions were no longer asked him, and if he wanted to answer it wasn’t that welcomed.
Because of that phrase their biggest fight ever occurred.
“I asked a question! Do you ever listen to me talking?” screamed Tamamori. “In the past few month, did you ever listen to me? I said I miss it. I like to stand in the front. I got used to it.”
The one he was shouting at was Fujigaya. “I only made a joke…”
“You are the last one I want to hear a joke from. Especially now! I want you to understand me!”
Fujigaya was trying to get closer to him, to calm him down, but Tamamori was backing off. “You don’t know how I feel! It’s not you who lost the attention of the camera. You even got more!” With that he stormed out of the room they enjoyed their time together, before the fight started.
Fujigaya ran after him. “Tama-chan, wait… I didn’t mean it like that.” But Tamamori was far away from slowing down. He wanted to get away from the older.
“Yuta, let’s talk, please.” After that Tamamori stopped running. “ I don’t want to talk, you don’t listen to…” - “I DO listen to everything you tell me, also the last few month, I DID listen!” Fujigaya interrupted him.
“No! You didn’t! You no longer understand how I’m feeling. If you don’t know the timing of jokes, don’t hear when I’m asking you a question… what is the point in talking? I don’t think you know the “me” anymore. Maybe it’s best if we take a break for sometime…”
“I don’t want to break up with you!” Fujigaya said quickly, his heart clenching tightly at the thought.
“I didn’t ask you if you want… “I “ need a break… to think about everything.” With those words he left.
Fujigaya stood there for some more time, not able to move. How did we end up like this? And this is only because of my drama? The stupid drama, where I have to cut my hair? Why didn’t I decline it? Everyone told me to decline, if I didn’t want to do it, to cut my hair… But it’s the first time I got offered to play the lead role. After I didn’t got the lead character in I was very happy about this chance… Why does it has to end in something like this?

Nikaido and Miyata were talking silently in one corner of the room. Senga was sitting at the table thinking about joining the other two. Yokoo was also sitting at the table, but his mind was occupied with the three missing members. They were still not here, and their meeting was going to start soon! What are they doing? At least our manager isn’t here yet… As he was thinking, their manager entered.
“Can we start the meeting?” he asked, looking at the corner where Nikaido and Miyata just continued to talk about nothing and everything. “Kitayama, Fujigaya and Tamamori aren’t here yet, can’t we wait a bit longer for them?” Yokoo asked. - “They don’t need to be here, this work is only for the four of you.”
That shut Miyata and Nikaido up as well, as they turned towards the table and sat beside the others.
Work only for them was rare. Usually it was them that were left out… They were all wondering what it was about?
“You actually have to keep it a secret from the others…” That made the four even more curious. “You’re going to be in “Ayashii Uasa no Atsumaru Toshokan” as judges. You have to check something that Nakai will tell you later about.” Their manager looked at his clock a bit annoyed. “When he get’s here…”
They all waited for five more minutes. The four Kis-my’s were wondering what their task would be and wanted to ask about it badly, but it didn’t seem like their manager knew anything more. So they just sat there in silence.
When the door opened all their heads shoot up and because it was Nakai who entered they stood up and bowed slightly.
They offered him a chair and their manager asked if he wanted to drink something and then they waited some more minutes for the coffee.
When everyone was seated again, they all looked at Nakai expectant.
“Well… as you know, you’re in my show to prove the rumour true or wrong. This time it’s a slightly different rumour that normally… it was a request from Johnny-san, to do something scandalous this time, to raise the viewer rate some more percent.”
They all looked at each other, still confused. “Scandalous?” Yokoo asked.
“Yeah, scandalous were Johnny-san’s words. So the rumour this time will involve Tamamori and Fujigaya. I have written down your task here, in these files. You’re job’s not watching movies, but taking some clips or photos to prove the truth. Please do it until the end of the week. Since I still have an other meeting from now, I will excuse myself now.”
He stood up and left the room, leaving behind four files with a blank cover.
All of them took one and they began reading. All of them were very concentrated and their manager exited the room for a while.
Suddenly Yokoo, who seemed to be the fastest reader, began gasping for air. The others were looking at him with strange looks, but continued reading. One after the other acted quite the same as Yokoo, until all of them were looking at each other with big eyes.
“That couldn’t be… right?” It was Miyata who spoke first. “It’s just a rumour, right?” Senga was asking unsure. “There’s no way Tama-chan and Gaya are dating.” Nikaido voiced out. “Yeah, just because they became closer during their drama… that could be the source of the rumour, I guess?” Added Yokoo.
“And we have to prove it true or false… That’s going to be awkward…” Miyata said.

The next day the four of them met up before their actual meeting started, to discuss some strategies.
The first of the missing three to entre their meeting room was Tamamori. They looked at him curious, but he was too tired to notice anything. Lately all of them had too much work and additionally Tamamori was also taking some extra vocal lesions, he really wanted to stay in the front.
Nikaido, Senga, Miyata and Yokoo shared a look, but there was nothing they could prove when Tamamori was alone.
The next to enter was Kitayama. Because the sofa was already occupied by a dead tired Tamamori he choose to sit in a free chair, and enjoyed the silence.
Then finally Fujigaya also showed up, only in last minute before their meeting started. He didn’t spear Tamamori even one look, and just sat on the chair next to Kitayama.
That was a quite normal behaviour.
Their manager entered. “Can someone of you wake up Tamamori, please?” he told them.
The four Ayashii Uasa judges looked at Fujigaya. Wouldn’t he go to wake up Tamamori? When no one moved Kitayama spoke up. “All of you are acting weird! But I’ll wake him up anyway.”
***
They also behaved in a similar way the whole day and also the next morning. It was freaking Kitayama out. What happened? Was there a fight? Tamamori and Fujigaya acted quite cold towards each other and the other four were always whispering. They surely had a secret to hide.
After lunch they didn’t had any particular work and all of them were just wandering around in the agency. In the evening they would have to film for Music Station, so they were not completely free at the moment.
Kitayama searched for a free rehearsal room, where he could sleep for a little while. But as soon as he stretched out on the sofa there his mobile phone ringed.
It was just a mail and he thought about not reading it, but read it anyway. Replying was something different, if it wasn’t important he could just reply later.
From: Yuta
To: Hiromitsu
Are you free now? Can I talk to you?
Kitayama was quite surprised. He wasn’t the one Tamamori often bothered with his problems. That was usually Fujigaya…. Did the two have fight? That could be a reason for their strange behaviour.
From: Hiromitsu
To: Yuta
Sure! I’m in room 101. There’s quite a nice sofa here, but you need to bring your tea yourself. (^-^)
Tamamori got the hidden hint and bought two bottles of tea at near vending machine. Then he headed to the room Kitayama named.
Kitayama already waited for him and patted the seat beside him, indicating for Tamamori to sit down, the moment the other entered. He accepted the tea the younger handed him.
“So what do you want to talk about?” he asked, looking at the other end of the room. When he got no answer he finally looked at Tamamori.
“Did you have a fight with Fujigaya?”
Tamamori didn’t speak, but Kitayama saw his surprised look. Then he looked down on his hands again, like he had been caught doing something forbidden.
Kitayama figured it would be best if he just waited patiently for the other to speak when he was ready. So he also sat silently on the sofa, wondering what was on his younger band mates mind.
They sat there for five minutes, no one speaking, only their breath being heard, until Kitayama shifted to a more comfortable position. He was now half lying on the sofa, but Tamamori was still sitting very stiff there.
It was another five minutes until he moved his hands and slowly began speaking. “It started around filming, we were both unsure at the beginning…”
***
Miyata and Nikaido followed Tamamori after lunch and Senga and Yokoo checked Fujigaya’s movements. They soon found out that those two were walking in completely different directions.
When Tamamori entered an empty rehearsal room and didn’t close the door completely Miyata and Nikaido saw their chance. They looked inside and guess what they saw, Tama sitting on the sofa with someone. At first they didn’t realize whose sitting there beside Tamamori.
Suddenly when the person turned his head to look at the person beside him they both said at the same time: “That’s Mitsu!”
And both put their hands over their mouths fast. They didn’t want to get caught spying out their band mates.
Plus they had to take some pictures and videos, to prove their discovery.
When they moved back to their own rehearsal room they had quite some good video material in their camera.
***
The next two days the four of them recorded every single touch of Tamamori and Kitayama. They managed to provide Nakai with some good video material. Their senpai was very happy about the result, it weren’t the rumours he invented, but it was real… Johnny-san surly has to be satisfied. He got something quite scandalous…
The filming of the show also went well. They managed to do everything without the others getting suspicious.
Still it was unavoidable for Kitayama, Fujigaya and Tamamori to get to know that they’re not invited to Nakai’s show this week, so their manager told them that the other four got invited. It was a first, and no one knew what the rumour was. Kitayama suggested watching it all seven members together.
They all agreed, and on the airing date they all met in their dressing room, squeezing onto the sofa in front of the TV. Of course Tamamori was sitting beside Kitayama, or more like on Kitayama, because there really was not much place, and the majority in the room noticed it with an amused smile on the lips, looking forward to what was coming.
When the show began they all became silent. Concentrating on the screen they watched the introduction of the guests and some chatting between Nakai and the invited people. Then the rumour was revealed. Senga, Nikaido, Miyata and Yokoo observed the other three closely. Their reactions were quite different. Kitayama was just sitting there, not moving. Tamamori blushed like crazy and tried to look at no one of the others. Fujigaya’s reaction was the biggest.
“What the hell!” he stood up and faced the others.
“It wasn’t our idea! We only did what we were asked to. Sit down and watch… We weren’t allowed to tell you…” Yokoo tried to save the situation. Fujigaya sat down again, but his mood was awfully bad. And it surely didn’t get better when the VTR-segment began!
Tamamori and Kitayama were both sitting there like frozen. The blush on Tamamori’s face vanished completely and he actually got white like paper.
Both of them didn’t realize any of the action they obviously made the last few days. Where they really holding hands? And what was Kitayama’s hand doing on Tamamori’s butt? He didn’t remember touching the younger like that… but the pictures showed clearly that his hand WAS there!
Fujigaya’s face darkened with every passing minute.
The last picture showed them kissing. Now also Kitayama got angry.
“I never kissed Tama-chan!” He stood up, and Tamamori was almost falling on the floor, because he was still sitting half on Kitayama.
The others also stood up; slowly they distanced themselves from the sofa a bit, because an angry leader was scary.
No one paid attention to the TV. Speaking in the background.
They backed away under the glare of Kitayama, not really recognizing Fujigaya approaching Tamamori, until they heard a slap.
Tamamori was back sitting on the sofa, holding his left cheek, tears starting to form in his eyes.
“So we can say that the rumour about FujiaTama is NOT true! FujiTama doesn’t exist! One rather has to call it KitaTama.” Everyone ignored Nakai’s voice out of the TV.
Fujigaya was screaming at him. “Was that why you broke up? To sleep around with other people? I guess you’re happy as long as you get spoilt… If that’s your way of “thinking”… please… but there’s no need to come back to me when you finished your thinking time! You’re no longer welcome!” His voice got louder at the end. He stormed out of the room.
Leaving a Tamamori whose tears were now floating freely. Kitayama was rushing towards the sofa, and forgot his anger towards the other for the time being. The only thing that counted now was that Tamamori wouldn’t get hurt any further. As it seemed he was the only one who knew the whole story. So it was his responsibility to make his two band mates happy again.
He made Tamamori lie down on the sofa and kneeled beside his head, stroking his hear out of the face.
Tamamori was curled up and sobbed uncontrolled while whispering phrase fragments. “Chigau yo… It’s not like that… why wouldn’t he listen… how did it end up like this?... Now it’s like I’m at fault…”
Kitayama just continued to stroke above his face until the sobs got better.
Senga, Nikaido, Miyata and Yokoo were standing kind of clueless in the room. Someone of them turned the TV off, but they didn’t get what was going on. Was it connected to their participation in “Ayashii Uasa no Atsumaru Toshokan”? What did they do wrong? Was it now FujiTama? Or was it KitaTama? What they saw in front of their eyes looked much like KitaTama, but Fujigaya seemed upset about the pictures… What was the relationship between the three of them?
A short while after Tamamori fell asleep, Kitayama stood up and turned towards the others. “I’m going to search for Fujigaya, please look after Tamamori if he wakes up…” And he went out of the room. Senga, Nikaido, Miyata and Yokoo were still kind of clueless.
“Does someone mind to explain?” Senga asked. “I don’t think anyone of us has a clue what’s been going on…” Nikaido answered. “Was that our fault, that this mess was created?” Yokoo scratched his hair as he spoke? “What is everything included in this mess?” Miyata wondered.
***
When Fujigaya stormed out of the room his feelings were mixed. The biggest part was anger. He was angry at everyone, at Tamamori for causing him the heartache, at Kitayama for stealing his Yuta, at Senga, Nikaido, Miyata and Yokoo for taking these pictures, at Nakai for creating such a stupid rumour and also at himself for not listening to his boyfriend when the other needed him the most and thus made that that stupid joke. There was also pity. Pity for himself, and pity for Tamamori. They got to a point where they broke up. The one thing that would never happen, they promised… Then, there was also guilt, only a tiny little bit, but it was there.
He wanted to run to a place where Tamamori couldn’t find him, but on the other hand he wanted the younger to go after him and tell him that there was nothing between him and Kitayama. He kind of knew that there was nothing, still he wanted to hear it from the other’s mouth.
After some running without knowing where he went, her found himself on the rooftop. He sat down and enjoyed the cool wind breezing over his face. It cooled him a bit down. His feelings of guilt got bigger.
What happened with me? What have I done? I screamed at Yuta… I even hit him. I’m the worst!!
His guilty feelings grew bigger, every part that was angry slowly turned into guilt.
He knew that if someone truly would want to find him, he would earlier of later come to the rooftop. One part of him wanted someone to go after him. Still, when Kitayama came, he wasn’t quite prepared to face the other. His anger was completely gone, and his mind only occupied with Tamamori. He didn’t felt like becoming angry again. He was more in the mood for crying.
He was surprised, when the other started screaming at him. “Omae Baka janai? Getting someone as good as Tamamori as your boyfriend and then treating him like that…” - “It wasn’t my fault that he cheated on me… I have every right to be angry with him!” Fujigaya felt the big urge to defend himself. What right had the other to judge over him? Stealing his boyfriend like that…
“I didn’t speak of the incident just before… Well that wasn’t nice either. But I meant what happened one week back…”
He sat beside Fujigaya and looked down at the kids playing on the street.
“I guess you really didn’t listen to Tama-chan back then… right?” and without waiting for an answer he continued, “So it’s up to me to bring you two back together… What I’ll tell you now is what Tama-chan told me over the past few days… It wasn’t easy for him, but he never tear up or asked for comfort… he said that was something he only would do in front of you…”
-Flashback-
“So what do you want to talk about?” asked Kitayama, looking at the other end of the room.
“It started around filming, we were both unsure at the beginning… I don’t know who started it, but somewhere around the third episode, we were teasing us to no end. I never had that much fun, being with Fujigaya. We often slept over at each others place, and practiced our lines together… And when we started to learn the lines for the fourth episode, I guess it was at Fujigaya’s house, he suddenly kissed me. For a little while it was awkward, but I couldn’t help and kiss him back, so it got better again…
- End of flashback-
“If you ask me it was one of his most precious moments… I was wondering very long, why he told me about that… because for that day he didn’t told me anything else. In the end I came to the conclusion that he just wanted to recall that happy memory.”
Kitayama smiled at Fujigaya in a quite sad way. “Even thought he said, he wanted to talk to me, it didn’t really matter who would have listen. Because in his mind there was only you.”
-Flashback 2-
“Tama-chan, come here. Sit down.” They were again in an empty rehearsal room. “You’re looking awful, Tamamori. How long did you sleep last night? Did you sleep any at all?”
“I tried to…”
“But you didn’t cry… I can tell that… Did you ever cry over your break up?” When Tamamori shook his head, Kitayama continued with a louder voice, “You have to let your emotions out. Come here, and cry, maybe you can sleep better then!”
Again Tamamori shook his head. “I’m not going to cry to anyone else’s chest except Fujigaya!”
“At least tell me why you broke up?”
“Ne, Hiro… can I ask you something without you getting angry?”
“Sure, go on. I didn’t plan on getting angry at you for anything…”
“I… is there… did you… and… with the drama… and so on…”
“You mean, if there’s something between Fujigaya and me going on?”
Tamamori didn’t say anything, but with the intensity he was looking away, Kitayama knew he understood right!
“There’s nothing! Yes, we learn our lines together, and so on… but nothing more. I’m not interested in a relationship with Fujigaya!”
-End of flashback 2-
“Tama was also worrying about this thing! He wasn’t sure, if he could make you stay with him… and that he got pushed back in our formation didn’t help any. The fan service is expected to be done between us… and I guess you also know where this could have lead.”
- Flashback 3-
“So what was now the real reason you broke up with him? Because you weren’t sure if you could hold him? Don’t make me believe you’re that stupid. I know that breaking up was the last option for you…”
A sad look spread across Tamamori’s face. Kitayama thought that he finally was going to cry. But no, there were no tears.
The words were very silent, and if Kitayama didn’t listen closely he would have missed them. “He didn’t listen to me. His thoughts weren’t with me. He was no longer interested in what I told him.”
The next words were a bit louder. “I asked him about his relation ship with you. What he felt towards you, if there was something similar between the two of you during Misaki, and if he wanted to go back to that. But he only made a joke about me no longer standing in the front… like he didn’t hear me.”
Tamamori buried his face in his hands. His next words were again scarcely audible. “I didn’t know what to do back then. It hurt. So I got angry… To protect my heart from the pain. It’s quite selfish… But I was afraid to break, I didn’t know that it could hurt so much.”
-End of flashback 3-
“You’re his first boyfriend, he didn’t have any experience with this kind of pain. I guess in the end he loves you more than what he thought. And he didn’t want to cause you the trouble to break his heart. In my opinion he broke up with you that he didn’t need to be angry with you, if you would want to break up… Of what he was sure you would, because you were no longer listening to him properly…”
“I didn’t knew anything… That day, I didn’t sleep for about 30 hours, because our manager threw up my schedule… I was happy to have him near me after we didn’t have time for each other for quite some time… If I only would have listen to him properly…”
“Go to him now! Say you’re sorry! Make up with him! You still have a chance!!”
Fujigaya looked at him with big eyes.
“Why are you still sitting here? If you truly love him, go down to our dressing room, and wake Tama-chan up. Tell him you love him and make sure he never gets sad again!”
Fujigaya sat there for 30 seconds, and when the words of Kitayama finally reached him he stood up and ran. In no time he was standing in front of their dressing room. For about five seconds he was thinking about not going inside, but knowing that the other was in there, and that he was the source of the younger’s pain, made him open the door.
Tamamori was still sleeping on the sofa. The other four were sitting across the room, but as soon as Fujigaya entered they all stood up. He didn’t pay them any attention and directly went to Tamamori.
Kneeling beside his head, at the exact same spot Kitayama was before, he stroked the younger’s hair. “Yuta… I’m sorry… I didn’t know anything… I wasn’t aware of your worries… I’m sorry you had to go through this… but I want you to know…” he didn’t wait until the other opened his eyes. “… I love you, and only you! You were the one to steal my heart and there will never be anyone who can do the same as you did. My heart is safe in your hands forever. I gave it to you and I want you to keep it.”
As he bent his head down to kiss the younger, Yokoo motioned for the others to leave the room. It was best to let them be alone for the moment.
***
When Tamamori woke up, he heard Senga, Nikaido, Miyata and Yokoo talking. They were analyzing the situation. Trying to find out what was up with them. Discussing the various pairing possibility and the consequences. The possibilities of what kind of fight there could have been?
He wasn’t really interested in telling them the truth, so he just kept his eyes closed, pretending to still be asleep.
When the door opened he wondered if Kitayama came back. He thought about looking who entered, but if he opened his eyes the others would know that he’s awake. And he wasn’t feeling like talking to anyone.
Only some seconds later someone was kneeling beside his head and stroking his hair. “Yuta… I’m sorry… I didn’t know anything… I wasn’t aware of your worries… I’m sorry you had to go through this… but I want you to know…” Tamamori’s heart stopped for a second. It was the first time that the older said sorry to him. “… I love you, and only you! You were the one to steal my heart and there will never be anyone who can do the same as you did. My heart is safe in your hands forever. I gave it to you and I want you to keep it.”
Tamamori kept his eyes closed, but on his cheeks there was a slight blush appearing. He heard how Yokoo motioned for the others to leave the room, when Fujigaya bent his head down to him. Maybe he wanted them to be alone during their make up. As soon as he felt Fujigaya’s lips on his, the thoughts in his head stopped. Inside his chest there was a warm feeling spreading. The other still loved him. All his worries turned out to not be true!
When Fujigaya pulled back slowly he let out a whimper and put his hands around the others neck to keep him close. Fujigaya pulled him up, that they were both sitting, putting their foreheads together.
“Can you forgive me?”
Instead of an answer Tamamori crawled into the others lap and buried his head in the others T-shirt. He held onto the older as if he never was going to release him again. Then he nodded his head, again tears forming in his eyes, this time out of joy.
“You’re crying again! I don’t want to make you cry ever again! I’ll make sure to protect your smile!”
“Baka, I’m crying because I’m happy!” He slightly slapped the others chest.
***
“Go to him now! Say you’re sorry! Make up with him! You still have a chance!!”
Fujigaya looked at Kitayama with big eyes.
“Why are you still sitting here? If you truly love him, go down to our dressing room, and wake Tama-chan up. Tell him you love him and make sure he never gets sad again!”
Kitayama was wondering why he had to play cupid for his two friends. Why couldn’t they work it out themselves? The whole last week, every time he saw Tamamori that sad he thought if there wasn’t a way for him to make the other happy. But Tamamori stated it himself: there was only Fujigaya.
Fujigaya sat there for about 30 seconds, and when the words of Kitayama finally reached him he stood up and ran inside the building.
“If you won’t make Tama-chan happy I’ll kill you…” Kitayama whispered into the air.
Sitting there for some more minutes, he closed his heart. If they would work it out, he would keep all his feelings inside his heart.
“I also need to go down again…” He stood up and followed Fujigaya down to their dressing room. Senga, Nikaido, Miyata and Yokoo were standing outside, not talking. As he came closer he saw the want to know everything in their eyes.
“Why does it have to be me to tell EVERYONE what happened…” he murmured to himself… Still, he told the others a short version of the story, censuring all the intimate moments between Fujigaya and Tamamori. Throwing light on the whole situation.

Omake:
Nakai was walking down the corridor of the JE building. Whistling a SMAP song searching for a free rehearsal room. They had a live performance in a fey days and he wanted to go through their choreography again.
Behind the first door he opened he found A.B.C-Z doing some acrobatic stuff. Not wanting to disturb them he closed the door again. The next door was locked. When he opened the third door he thought he was lucky. At first he didn’t see anyone inside, but when he stepped inside he saw that the sofa was occupied by the figure of two people. They were making out… He wasn’t quite sure which leg or arm belonged to whom… But judging from their hair it had to be…
Fujigaya and Tamamori?!?
What the hell are they doing here? He stumbled out of the room, closing the door again.
“The… the ru… rumour… I did… in… invent…was… TRUE?!?”
