To me the best choice, as a replacement for Stranger Than Fiction, would be Dead Poets Society. We watched this in my sophomore english class, and it definitely applies to what we have been doing this semester. Dead Poets Society is definitely a piece of literature, the main point of the film is “carpe diem” or seize the day. The most important quality a piece of literature must have is for it to have a deeper meaning that is not only relevant to the work itself, but can also be applied to our modern life. Dead Poets Society does all of that, and not to mention the film is mildly entertaining. Not only does the movie cover the unit of literature but it can also help students to prepare for the upcoming unit of poetry. With a title like Dead Poets Society it is apparent that poetry also plays a relatively important role. There are tons of films that could be replaced Stranger Than Fiction, that also display the necessary characteristics for something to be literature. However, in my opinion Dead Poets Society is the best replacement. I would also like to add that there is no real reason to replace Stranger Than Fiction. If it aint broke dont fix it, and that movie seems to do just fine.
