I don't know that the original creator would be willing to recreate the universe for TV. I think he was really hurt when the rights were essentially stolen from him back in the day (especially since Daniel was sort of his own Marty Stu). I know he's said he'd planned on other movies after Stargate, but I don't think they wouldn't be directly related, it would be an all-new cast of characters and plotline.
I'm OK with it going away. What I liked about the shows has been missing for quite a while anyway, so it wouldn't be a huge loss. Though if it rested for a couple of years and some new people came in with some new ideas -- not completely "rebooting" just some new stories -- there could be potential.
Though I think it would be a completely new cast, or existing characters would just be guest stars, just based on the time passed. Amanda Tapping would probably show up, because I think she must have pictures of a SyFy exec with a goat to get all the extra attention she has. This isn't a slam against her work, it's just that there are other women who could do some great work in sci fi, but she seems to be the SyFy go-to girl, such as being given the role of narrator for the redo of the Riese web series. I'd like to see some other women given the chance she once was.
