Day off today (no placement, no classes, no work, w00t). So I slept in, did some social studies reading, finally got my stupid model classroom newsletter finished, no thanks to my Kodak camera and my Apple laptop. And the computer returns! With...let's see. A replaced main logic board and a new airport.

You know, it would be stressful but if these repairs keep getting covered by Apple's repair warranty, I could slowly get all the parts replaced. *rolls eyes*

Being without a computer during class is so painful. I feel so completely disorganized, because I rely so much on being able to check my computer often. The Apple people think it's either the logicboard (?) or the airport card, but luckily for me, no charge since they *just* had to send it away for repairs. Now that my baby is back, I went through and done what I should have done (probably) years ago - backed up the hard drive, or at least, the parts I wanted to keep. Also did an update and finally updated to Safari 4. I don't know if I'm that keen on it, frankly. It has a tendency to bring up my web browsing patterns a little too much. I don't ( Read more... )

I don't know about anyone else, but I hate that when updates to my mac software come out, that I have to think, okay, if I install this, will it destroy my ability to use this computer? Will Gmail work in it? Will videos play correctly (or will it be worse than it is now)? Will it slow down my computer to the point where I start threatening it ( Read more... )

My computer is being a jerk. All of a sudden, I can't insert discs into the disc drive. Apple support forums decidedly unhelpful, I'm guessing it's a hardware issue. The disc is flat, there's nothing on it, there's no disc already in the drive. But of course, now that we've hit the point in the summer where I will need my computer every single ( Read more... )
