Janowellfine. That's a lovely South African colloquiallism. We love combining positives with negatives to create composite words that have no real meaning.

"Hey, Nerine, how're you feeling today?"

"Janowellfine." **followed by a deep sigh** "I think I'll just carry on sitting here under a rock."

It's always so refreshing when a fresh eye points out gremlins in a manuscript. Without the wonders of internet and email, how the HELL did authors do this in the "old" days?

What did I learn?
I still have a bit of passive voice creeping through at times.
I sometimes muddle the order of events in a sentence which, although not wrong, can be reworded.

Where I'm at now:
I'm down to the last 70-odd pages of the first round of edits on a horror novel for LPI. Can't wait to get that puppy through to the author and I bet he can't wait to receive them. Today was good. I had a day off from the papers so I decided to las everything else on my plate to just concentrate on finishing the 2nd draft of The Dead of Night. It's come in at around 68K words, which is perfect, should my publisher decide to offer me a contract on it. Wow. That was a bit of a marathon. It took about a week and a bit but I pushed through with the edits on Khepera Rising and I'm glad I'm done. And I've fallen in love with Jamie all over again. After much consideration, I've decided to mothball one of my pieces of short fiction. I no longer feel that it is an accurate reflection of my ability and, after enough rejections, I don't think it's commercially viable although it's still an entertaining and (I hope) amusing story.
