This Op piece by Jonah Goldberg discusses an observation that I have made in the past about how we apply double standards to our presidents, depending upon our own political views. He points out some glaring contradictions between how liberals and conservatives treat Bush versus Clinton.

There's an outstanding quote from a younger and wiser Newt Gingrich that blew me away (i.e., shocked the bejesus out of me, coming from him). Gingrich vehemently disagreed. "What we need is a stronger Congress, not a weaker Congress," he shot back. "The greatest danger of the Reagan administration is that conservatives will decide they can trust imperial presidents as long as they are right-wing when they are imperial."
