I loved the part about WW being the most radical president. Can you imagine how people would scream and hollar if GW grabbed up war protesters and locked them away for the duration of the war? If he put Dennis Kucinich in jail? (WW jailed the head of the Socialist Party, which then had sigificant support)

Thankfully those sorts of abuses are now beyond the pale, and we worry only about wiretaping and cronyism. (does anyone seriously think that GW will declare a dictatorship, or set the national guard on the Democratic party?)

And as for Gingrich, I think he was always in favor of a stronger congress... look how he behaved as speaker with his majority.

Maybe the conclusion of all of this, is that we should have a greater movement for independent registration, so people are properly skeptical of any president. Not cynical, but skeptical.
