Well, the little active swimmer in there turned out to be a girl!
We had the full anatomy ultrasound today, which was really amazing to see every little part - fingers, toes, head, spine, heart. Sitting cross-legged, doing flips, hiding her face from the scanner. I was convinced there was a contract for a fancier jacuzzi & pool and some expansions, partly because I'm my tummy is huge and partly because I can feel her moving already. I think there's going to be a skating ramp and a bungee jumping area installed in my uterus by the end of the month.
I thought the baby was a boy for the whole first trimester, but then found myself being drawn to girl's stuff so I was really uncertain.
I just assumed tranny. I figured that's what happens when one parent is straight and one isn't.
Everyone I work with insisted our child would be boy, with only once exception: a bright 6-year-old child I work with, who is wise beyond his years (who will soon beat me at chess).
Mike's initial look was surprised and a little scared. He was really prepared for a boy, less so for a girl. But I can tell he's warming up to the idea, planning ahead, scripting what he will say to potential suitors, practicing how to not be a total push-over when he gets the batting eyelashes pouty face, "but Daddy..."
My mom was at the sonogram, quietly gazing on. She agreed the pictures are nothing like seeing the little one on screen. She had told me right away she thought the baby was a girl just by the way I was carrying (so she won the bet with my dad). Hey, 50/50 chance.
Little Zoe Nicole Wood is due to arrive sometime mid-December. I can handle a Sagittarius child.
