Oswald and the future Mrs. McFusty are starting to outgrow the farm, especially with a little one on the way, so when Adrian announced he was restarting construction on Lexi's place, they asked him if while he's at it, it would be possible to clear a larger area a bit further away from the settlement, and build a new farmhouse with more space for arable land. Adrian agreed, so this is the last week Oswald and June will be spending here.
They are still very much in their honeymoon phase, sneaking in some loving (and woohoo) whenever they can.
Oswald: "Lets see if we can make it twins, hmm?"
June: *giggle*
Ridley, the new pup June and Oswald were given by Licas Rolfe, has been settling in nicely. June was a little worried because of his parent's nature, but Ridley is a pretty sweet dog, given enough attention and treats.
June's a family sim, and being pregnant has gotten her so excited that she just can't wait for the baby to be born. I guess practising on a bag of flour keeps her from going stir-crazy while she waits for the happy day.
The happy day comes rather more quickly than anticipated, as June gets caught out in the middle of watering the vegetable plot.
June: "Oswaaaaald! IT'S COMING!"
June: "It's... oh! THEY're coming!"
Yep, June gave birth to two little redheaded baby girls.
Oswald: "Twins! I never thought it'd actually be twins! What are we going to do with two of them?!"
June: "Love them and hug them and raise them right. Oochie goo!"
Oswald and June decide to name the girls Aileen and Alexis. Unfortunately, the settlers hadn't planned on kids entering the picture quite this soon, so they didn't bring along anything for potential babies. The twins have to make do with a thick quilt in one of the warmer corners of the farmhouse for now.
With June no longer pregnant, work on the farm is kicked up a notch. Oswald and June make a pretty good team, taking care of the veggies together.
To give the new parents a break, Oswald's sister Nora comes over frequently to help out with the kids. She seems pretty happy to take care of her little nieces. Besides, is she isn't going to do it, who will? It's not like there's a nanny service that ranges this far.
The twins are growing like cabbages, and soon have their toddler birthday. It seems like they were born just yesterday to Oswald and June, and now they're already little mini-people.
Better not bash your kid's head into the pans though, June.
The McFusty twins are colour coded for your convenience: this little tot in green is Aileen...
... while Alexis sports a purple dress. The girls' dresses were sewn together from some spare clothes by Ella, who took some sewing classes while she was in college. They're very basic, but at least the twins don't have to run around in their birthday suit.
'Basic' describes pretty much everything in Aileen and Alexis' lives, really. To keep the toddlers busy while their parents work the land, Oswald and June have had to improvise entertainment. Aileen is very keen on the musical pots and pans...
...while Alexis prefers digging around in the sandpit Oswald dug for her.
Potty training and bathing take place in a bucket and a wooden tub, respectively. It's not ideal, but considering their limited resources, June and Oswald are doing very well indeed.
The main problem is the lack of toddler beds. Aileen and Alexis are pretty comfortable on one of the thick quilts that June inherited from her grandmother, but there's no bars to keep the curious twosome from wandering off in the middle of the night, so Oswald has taken to sleeping on the couch in order to keep an eye on his girls.
The farmwork has been put in overdrive by the impending move to a larger plot of land. June has been working her tush off in order to bring in her crops before the move, so they won't have to go back and forth for the harvest. Weeds and pests are a problem though, and she's having a hard time taking care of the plants so they'll yield anything worth eating, let alone have enough left to seed the new plots.
Raising their children right is very important to both Oswald and June, and much of their spare time goes into teaching their girls basic skills and spending quality time with them.
What with everyone's lives being so busy, it's easy sometimes to forget about the pets, but June makes a point of spending time with the dogs and making sure they're properly groomed.
Little Alexis helps by giving them lots of attention, too! Bora is definitely her favourite, as she constantly wants to cuddle her.
It's a good life, but an exhausting one, and the time Oswald and June actually get to spend together (when Nora is babysitting), they're usually so tired they drift off to sleep immediately. With their move to a larger farm just around the corner, will they be able to keep up with the demands of both parenthood and the farm? Only time will tell...
