Like Adrian's been put with Nikolai to make room for Yelena in Licas' house, Ella has once again had to move, as Oswald moved in with June. She's now housing with Colin Cho and Nora McFusty, and getting quite fed up with constantly being shifted around. She's brought some fresh produce from the farm though, to fill up her new home's icebox.
Having learned a lot on the job with June, Ella feels confident enough to start up her own little vegetable patch. It never hurts to have your own source of food in the middle of nowhere.
Ella is a Knowledge Sim, just like Nora, so they're both pretty much glued to the chessboard. Nora is pleased she finally has a chess partner with some staying power, unlike her brother, who usually wandered off after a few hours.
Like Licas, Ella doesn't waste any time in trying to spread her own brand of propaganda. She hasn't had quite as much success, though.
Ella: "I didn't believe it at first myself, but apparently he changed into this hairy beast and attacked Nikolai. It's insane. Lexi should arrange for him to be taken away as soon as possible. We aren't safe around that monster."
Colin: "I dunno, I guess he's a bit odd, but he's always been a pretty okay guy. And none of us have turned up with our throats torn out so far. Why would he wait around to do something like that if he could have done it months ago? None of us can help the way we're made. I wouldn't have a spare tyre if that were the case."
Ella: "Even if he isn't out to kill and devour us, it's only a matter of time before his temper flames up and he'll snap again. It's just not safe."
Colin: "Well, anyone could snap and kill someone. You read about it in the paper all the time, and they're normal Sims too, not werewolves."
Ella: "But you have to admit there's an increased risk!"
Colin: "I guess..."
Nora has been taking advantage of the hot summer days to get some sunshine and a bit of a tan. She's got a lot of free time, as no medical issues have popped up in the population of Badger's Sett so far, aside from June's pregnancy.
Unfortunately, for a redhead sunbathing has its drawbacks.
Nora: "Curse my pasty white skin! Ow."
Colin is a Pleasure/Knowledge sim, and he likes to stargaze at night to keep himself entertained. It seems like his interest in the heavens has attracted some extraterrestrial interest in turn, however.
Colin: "Huh?"
Colin: "AAAIIIIEEEEE!"
Colin: "No! No no nononono NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Nora: "What was that?"
Ella: "What was what?"
Nora: "Did you not just hear that?"
Ella: "I didn't hear anything. Your move,"
Nora: "Must've been my imagination..."
The aliens show up again in the early hours of the morning, this time to drop something off (which for some reason causes a bunch of trees and rocks to float briefly).
Colin: "Not the head not the head not the heeeeeaaaaaddd!"
Colin: *groans*
Colin: "... did that just happen? Am I dreaming? I must've been sleepwalking or something..."
Life continues pretty uneventfully, with time spent on gardening, fishing, and small repairs around the house. By chance, the three sims who don't have an immediately active role in the settlements have all ended up together, so things are pretty peaceful.
Or at least, they were pretty peaceful until Ella started noticing a few changes about Colin's physique.
Ella: "Hey Colin, wait up!"
Colin: "What's up, El?"
Ella: "Uh, I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but you seem to have put on quite a bit of weight recently. Quickly, too."
Colin: "Oh no offense taken, I've never been the svelte type. I thought moving out to the middle of nowhere and living on healthy food would do my figure some good, but apparently not. The pounds have just been flying on, it's crazy."
Ella: "That doesn't sound normal. Have you talked to Nora about it? Rapid weight gain could be a symptom of something serious."
Colin: "Yeah I've been meaning to ask her to give me a check up. Been feeling pretty nauseated in the mornings and stuff. Maybe I'm coming down with something, or I picked up a parasite."
Ella: "I guess that... wait a minute. You've been feeling sick in the morning? Just the morning?"
Colin: "Yeah, it seems to pass pretty quickly. Really weird."
Ella: "You haven't uh... No, that's nuts."
Colin: "What?"
Ella: "You haven't had any extraterrestrial visitors, have you?"
Colin: "Funny you should say that. I did have a really vivid dream about being taken away in a spaceship a while ago. It felt so real! But what does that have to do with anything?"
Ella: "Oh goodness. You've... you've been pollinated!"
Colin: "Hey now, just because I've gained a little weight and had some weird dream doesn't mean I've been polluted."
Ella: "Not polluted, pollinated! You're... you're pregnant!"
Colin: "What? Have you been blowing bubbles, or something? Of course I'm not pregnant. Men don't get pregnant!"
Despite himself, Colin is still worried about Ella's crazy ramblings, so he's decided to hand himself over to Nora's expertise.
Nora: "And you say you've been sick in the mornings as well?"
Colin: "Throwing up like clockwork, but I'm still gaining weight. What do you think is wrong with me?"
Nora: "Well... If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were pregnant."
Colin: "Not you as well! Ella kept going on about me being pollinated just because I had this crazy dream about aliens."
Nora: "You had a dream about aliens? Did they take you on their ship?"
Colin: "Well, yeah, but it was just a dream."
Nora: "Uh... well I'll be damned. We read some case studies about pollination in med school, but I never thought I'd see it for myself!"
Colin: "You don't mean..."
Nora: "Yep! You're one of the lucky ones selected for the Pollination Program. It's quite the honour, you know. I guess they wanted to be part of our colonisation project as well!"
Colin: "L-lucky ones?"
Colin: "You mean I'm actually... pregnant?" *wibble*
