Corsetry Break + craftsy.com course = dress

I've been taking a small break from corsetry after finishing my DPP entry. I'm testing my distance fitting skills on my sister who lives in Las Vegas. I just got her measurements this week so will start drafting her pattern but in the mean time I have been improving my general sewing skills.

I found a course on craftsy.com called Sew Retro taught by Gretchen Hirsch. I love Gretchen's blog and sense of style and the course did not disappoint. I have finally learnt some basic sewing skills properly which I am sure will in turn improve my corsetry skills. I have signed up to another class; the couture dress by Susan Khalje which is also fantastic. I love how accessible knowledge and expertise are via the Internet!

Here are a few more pictures. The bodice is underlined in crisp cotton canvas (from sewcurvy.co.uk) and the lining has spiral steel boning added. I really enjoyed the hand finishing techniques I learnt and hope to make another dress before the summer arrives!
