Wow, haven't written in a LONG time...
So where to start...
Work is rewarding, and yet frustrating at the same time. I think I mean frustrating more in the terms of, I kinda dig this job, so I tend to get overly...passionate I guess you could say, when things don't tend to go in my favor. If nothing else, I find it to be rewarding in the sense of, what I put into it, I can actually see the results, where as with my previous job, I could work my ass off, or wank one out in a corner and it would have made 2 shits of a difference. Time I'd say is the major killer of this job as well. I work about 10-12 hour shifts, and than get home, go to bed 3-4 hours later...rinse and repeat. For now though, the money and the general things I'm getting out of it seem to be rewarding enough for me to just be happy for the time being. One major downside though, is this job appears to have a bit of a glass ceiling in terms of advancement/money wise.
Still have no clue where to go next in life. I've said it before, but I'd like to be able to do something I'm at least...passionate about for a career. Ideally everyone would...but I think for me it seems to be in the sense of more being happy, than making my future set. Where do I see myself in 5 years? It seems that people are trying to figure that out, and hence are busting their ass off to get somewhere in the world. 5 years for me? I don't know really. My only major expectation is, that I'd like to be happy, with myself more than happy with my job, or money, etc.
For me money isn't a huge deal to my happiness. Granted in corporate american lifestyle it sure as fuck makes things easier, but happier living? That's something many would debate for either side. I think some people (actors, musicians etc.) are WAY to overpaid for the shit they do, but...that's another story.
I forgot how good sigur ros can be
I posted, about 2-3 rants back about someone... the more I think about it...the more I can't help but regret what I said/wrote. What I mean is, I still feel the same, but I don't think I went about treating the situation the right way. If the person does talk to me, I'll listen, but I think I'll now just not let myself...get hurt again I guess is the best way to put it. I let myself get blindsided, and if nothing else, I've learned something about the person. I can't really blame them in a way, they're growing up, and I don't mean from a maturity standpoint, but from a discovering themselves type of growing up. I did the same thing when I was around their age. Now do I think the way they're growing up, from what I've seen thus far, is what I would do...obviously not. But I can't change people, nor will I try.
I don't try to change peoples minds, I only try to let them know my standpoints, and in turn know me, as I do the same. The more I learn about someone, especially their thoughts, the more I get to know them as a person.
Gene recently said in his LJ "Ryan is my intellectual friend, that I enjoy talking with about a ton of things, always gets my mind going. He's a lot smarter than he'll ever admit..."
I find it flattering I suppose, but mainly I'm curious. It's nice to hear someone actually say that kind of thing every now and than. Granted from my friends, I do get the "you're my boy," type of stuff, but it's another to be told something like that. I'd categorize it if I could, but I don't think I can, it even it can be categorized. I kinda of mentioned it at Kris's party this weekend to my friends down there, and they said basically I am the intellectual friend of the group. Nice to hear that my opinions are heard than in good standpoint, contrary to previous thoughts of mine, where I thought things I said just fell on deaf ears..and believe me, that can rock one's self esteem.
I'm thinking of getting majorly back into art and such. Why I haven't done so majorly yet? I hate to cop out, but laziness, and I think overall there's so much I WANT do right now, and time is not my major factor. Problem too is, that when I do have the free time...I'm usually exhausted from a long week, and want to do nothing but just relax. UI am still thinking of learning automotive stuff, and trying to do up a show car...but I don't know. I think that might be a later in life type of thing. I know the art stuff now, I just need to hone my skills more. Especially when it comes to freehand, and learning/touching up on other apsects, in the sense of light and shadow, 3d (perspective and such) and I think a general engineering aspect. My style seems to have more of a industrial feel, but I think I'd like it to be more organic, rather than slapdown machine made type of style.
