When I'm tired and/or sick, I have no tolerance for people. Give me an few acres of woods and leave me be. Or a TV, some movies, and art supplies. Either way. Or a book, if I'm feeling well. There were far too many people in my life today, which was too bad because I really ought to have enjoyed it. Today was my sister's dance recital and my other sister's high school graduation, with a nice Thai dinner in between. My grandparents are visiting for the occasion and all I wanted to do for most of the day was just sleep and hide. Zoe's recital was fabulous, as always. The Thai was delicious, as always. And the graduation didn't drag on as long as it might have. In fact, the girl that introduced the valedictorian said that the our valedictorian was like the Caesar to the high school's Rome and then proceeded to go in to the Mean Girls rant about how Brutus is as good as Caesar and we should just stab Caesar, etc.
www.youtube.com/watch She was joking, of course. (She explained that Mean Girls is the valedictorian's favorite movie.) Then the 2-5 honor parts proceeded to lay down a beat while the valedictorian rapped her speech (with clear diction, clarity of thought, and good word choice to boot). I was pretty impressed and proud of "my" school. Oh, and I always get a kick out of the fact that I'm one of the very few people able to sing "our" high school song all the way through (as long as no one remembers that there is a second verse, which I don't know and no one ever sings), even though I didn't actually graduate from there and was only a full-time student there for one year. :-)
