CB VIII - Round 2 South

Missingno defeats Yoshi and is due to go up against Sephiroth next in what is probably the most anticipated match of the whole contest now.  Yoshi and Sephiroth provide very different types of opponents for Missingno to face.  Joke characters apparently thrive against opponents vulnerable to anti-voting so I saw claims that Yoshi would be the ideal counter to Missingno (because, really, who could possibly hate him?) but that didn't work out.  Sephiroth gets tons of anti-votes, like anything FF7-related, and because of that I've seen other people say Missingno will have an easier time with him than Yoshi but I'm not buying that.  Sephiroth is the #3 character in the contest and his raw power in the polls isn't to be underestimated.  Both of Missingno's wins were by narrow margins (near 50/50) and I'd estimate the power gap between Yoshi and Crono is much smaller than the gap between them and Sephiroth.  If Missingno can win this one then he deserves to win the whole contest.

Why do I have Riku beating Captain Falcon in my bracket?  Why?

Terra didn't do nearly as badly against Squall as I expected.  Dissidia Boost is undeniable now but seems to have helped the 'old' Square characters (Cecil, Terra and Kefka) while not particularly mattering to the new (post-FF7) ones.  It makes sense that the older characters have more to gain since they haven't appeared much outside their original games while the newer ones already have things like Kingdom Hearts to expand their appeal.

I'm disappointed Ness didn't win his match against Big Daddy.  I was confident in my prediction there because Ness has a contest history of winning matches nobody expected him to.  That means I probably jinxed it by expecting him to win this time.  I wonder if things would have gone differently if Bioshock 2 hadn't come out so recently.

After two rounds;
