Type your cut He really wasn’t sure how this happened. It wasn’t supposed to end up like this! He had gone in with the intention of saving her...not adding to the conflict! He had gone from knight in shining armor to tied up abductee in about ten minutes.

What exactly had gone wrong? He had had a plan...Merlin was to create a diversion as he inconspicuously slipped in, went down the cave, found Gwen, ripped the chains of her as she would look up at him filled with surprise, awe, happiness and love, and then...

“It’s alright you know.” Gwen’s voice interrupted Lancelot’s daydream. Taking his silence as permission to continue, Gwen stated, “I can’t believe you risked your life to come find me...I can’t begin to, I’m just...you shouldn’t have...oh I’m sorry your in this position because of me!”

Lancelot’s heart swelled in appreciation for the woman who was currently tied to his arms with her back to his. Even though he himself had taken on this plight and was in this current predicament due to his own plan of action, she somehow found everything to be her fault.

“My lady it is not your fault at all! It is mine for being so ill equipped to save you! I apologize for not being able to save you...I thought i had taken care of all the guards but i guess...”

Gwen laughed a little nervously, “Still sir I am in debt to you for this great service.” Lancelot responded by saying, “There is no debt my lady, once you were taken, my heart would not rest till I saw you again.”

The meaning of his words fell heavy on Gwen and they both sat for some time in silence when Gwen said shyly, “I am not a lady sir.” Lancelot tried his best to turn around in the strange position they were tied and said to her, “yes you are my lady. you are a lady in every sense of the word. But if it does not please you then I shall call you...”

“Gwen. Just Gwen.” Gwen cut off. This level of intimacy was a new one and it didn’t go unnoticed by Lancelot who sat now with a smile on his face.

There were another couple minutes of comfortable silence till Lancelot decided to break it and ask her things. It went on like that for a little while, him asking her things and she responding with an occasional question of her own. Even though her answers seemed somewhat half hearted, Lancelot found himself liking the fact that they could easily converse as such. He continued asking her little details about her life, finding himself interested in her day to day activities of cleaning and taking care of morgana. This comfortable routine went on till it abruptly stopped when he asked her a question about Prince Arthur. At first she seemed startled then tried in vain to cover it up, adorably babbling on about something not related to the question at all. Then he found that Gwen addressed the Prince as Arthur and then embarrassed tried to cover up for that as well. finally she began what he could only establish to be a well thought out analysis of the Prince’s character. it was strange, as Gwen was a shy woman that he had noticed early on she spoke only when she knew her words had meaning and would make a difference. He had also noticed that the only person she really ever seem tongue tied around was when she was with or talking about Prince Arthur.

Prince Arthur. The very person responsible for making Lancelot a knight despite his common birth, and making this conversation with Gwen a rare one. He wasn’t sure when exactly he had noticed Arthur’s growing animosity towards him, that though he found Arthur did try and control, had been present usually in settings where Gwen was present. Lancelot wasn’t one to gossip but he had heard of some incidents from the maids...oh but it was a long shot. The Prince and Gwen? Not that he didn’t think Gwen to not be fit to be queen, he just knew that Arthur’s most obvious candidate for a wife was Morgana. No, surely, it must just be a competitive edge that made Arthur sometimes antagonistic towards him, and the fact that he always seemed to get agitated with Gwen watching while the knights practiced a coincidence. This daily behavior of his to her nonetheless had successfully gotten Gwen to avoid coming to practice lately.

“what do you think sir?” asked Gwen. Lancelot realized that in his analyzation of Prince Arthur’s possible guilt in unknowingly tearing him and Gwen apart had actually obstructed him from enjoying her company at this current moment. yes, he knew they were in a dungeon, but it was with her at least!

He tried to quickly think back to what she was saying--something about using both their hands to undo the knots. “Of course Miss Gwen--” he reached his hands back and began to do as she instructed.

----

He was in the cave now. He just needed to find her. Arthur had fought successfully--the knights now holding up the guards at the front. He knew it was up to him to go in and find her.

He tried to calm himself as he frantically ran about looking for her. It was his fault she was in this mess, he shudn’t have--oh there was no point in thinking over it now. He needed to find her for hi- for Morgana, for merlin, not for himself. He really had no direct feelings for her. At least none that he could currently decipher. So his heart beat a little faster when she walked by, so he sometimes walked by the fields just to see her pick flowers, so he felt like dying these couple days not being able to find her....that hardly constituted any extreme feelings. These past few months he had been experiencing some new feelings but...

“Gwen?” he yelled running... “Guinevere!” he yelled upon finally spotting her...free and quite improperly embracing sir Lancelot. Icy blue eyes met warm brown ones as Arthur looked menacingly at his reflection in Gwen’s eyes. She breathed the word, “Sire” as he found himself unable despite all his wanting to look away from the couple in front of him.

He felt some of those new feelings again.   here.
