Summary: Hermione Granger is one of the biggest healers in London. When her best friend Harry begs her to go pose as a muggle doctor in Chicago to keep tabs on a possible death eater recruitment, she has to pretend to be the wife of Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley's auror partner. Bickering and fighting even at the age of 26, Hermione soon finds salvation in the fact that her childhood best friend before her transfer to Hogwarts is a doctor there as well. Neela Rasgotra is dealing with some of her own problems already. Her growing crush on her roommate while an unsteady dating experience with Michael Gallant only starts getting stranger when her strange friend Hermione Granger comes bringing impossible and scary secrets with her. Ray Barnett, her roommate, and Draco Malfoy form an unlikely friendship as they too deal with all of this. However, all four are hardly aware of something much greater than all of them will befall them.
Pairs: Ray/Neela, Draco/Hermione
ok, so the summary sucks...pls try it tho!
Hermione Granger was honestly about to lose it. She splashed cold water on her burning face again, hoping that this would somehow cause her to forget what happened this afternoon. Wiping her face with a towel, Hermione walked back into her room and decided to lay down. That’s right, a nap would be good for her. It would help her rationally think up what she was going to do.
“America?” Hermione yelled at her best friend Harry. “Yes, America. Chicago to be specific.” “But Harry, why? I don’t understand how or why Theodore Nott would try and create a new Death Eater party there! Why not try in England itself?”
“Yes why not? And be killed in the process?” said a cool sarcastic voice. “Granger, I always knew you were a little slow in grasping concepts, but couldn’t you pretend like you have any clue about the world? Nott comes over here, he gets taken out by the entire ministry. He builds an army over there, gains power over there, then comes back here makes a lot more sense.” Hermione turned slowly to face the owner of the voice. “You!” she said. “What are you doing here?” Draco Malfoy just smirked. Getting her pissed at him was like Christmas coming early.
“You can’t be serious!” Hermione yelled at Harry. “Oh come on, ‘Mione. We need an auror there to look after and tell us all of Nott’s whereabouts…We know where he is and what he’s doing. We just need to keep an eye on him.”
“Fine, Harry then send ferret face over here. Why send a healer?” Hermione sent Malfoy a glare.
“We are sending Malfoy. But we also need you. He’s posing as a muggle doctor. You’re a healer! He’s never seen you before and you can pose as a doctor there to get to know him.” Harry replied.
“Me and him?” Hermione asked. At seeing Harry’s somewhat scared expression, she quickly said “No! Harry, please no! Malfoy, you couldn’t possibly have agreed to this!”
“I already did Granger. You see, unlike you, I can be a rational adult. And for the good of the wizarding world, I’m going to listen to Potter.” Draco said.
“Somehow I highly doubt that the man who still holds house rivalry against others after seven years of being out of Hogwarts is truly capable of being a rational adult…Ferret..I mean Mr. Malfoy” Hermione retorted.
“You get turned into a ferret once, and no one lets it go! You know what? Why don’t you settle that face of yours back into your books it’s not like any of us wants to be here dealing with you. Why don’t you crawl into your little hole?”
“If I crawled into a little hole atleast people would MISS me, with you…oh yes that’s right, if you crawled into a little hole it would be the first great service you’ve done for the vast public.”
Then there was a fight. Hermione refused to remember what it was that triggered the fight, what words were used, or what cup she threw at Malfoy’s head. All she knew is that Harry had called her later and had guilted her into saying yes. Now, she was regretting it. She looked at the card briefing her with information. There was no way she could stay with Malfoy for four whole months. And what was worse, she’d be living as his wife.
Suddenly, something caught her eye. It was the hospital’s name. She knew that name! She ran to her address book until she found the number she was looking for.
“Hello?” said someone at the other end.
“Neela?” Hermione asked.
“Yes? Who is this?”
“Hermione Granger.”
“Hermione! How are you? I’m telling it’s been years since I’ve heard someone speak in a nonAmerican accent!”
“Hahaha! I’m fine! How are you?”
“Great! So what reminded you of me? You haven’t been in touch for months!”
“I’m so sorry Neela! I’ve been absolutely stacked with work! But I have some interesting news!”
“What?” “I’m coming to work at your hospital!”
“Are you being serious Hermione?”
“One hundred percent” “How? When? Why? I’m so excited!”
“I’m coming soon…actually I’m coming with…my…husband.”
“You got married?! And you didn’t call me?” Neela asked, hurt evident in her voice now.
“Neela, I can’t explain now, but I have to tell you something very secret and very important. I’m arriving in about 21 days. Will you meet me at the airport?”
“Ofcourse! Is everything okay Hermione? I’ll come…You can come stay with me…I’ll just beg Ray to stay at a friend’s for the night.”
“Everything’s fine. Don’t worry, I’ll explain everything. Wait- who’s Ray?” Hermione asked
“Oh…he’s my roommate. He’s a great guy…but really annoying sometimes. And sarcastic, and overly clever, bad boyish…but really he’s amazingly sweet.”
“Hahaha. You sound a tad bit smitten with your roommate.”
“Am not ‘Mione!”
“Anyways, he sounds like my husband…except mine’s not amazingly sweet or a great guy.”
“What’s that?”
“Oh nothing! Remember April 16th ok?”
“yes!”
