The problem with Robin Hobb's Assassin's Apprentice is the names. The long and the short of it is that they suck. The only way that it could be worse, I'd say, is that since it's a First Person narrator, we rarely have to see the name of the main character: FitzChivalry; literally, "Chivalry's Bastard." Ok. This really is going to be the last time I buy an iPod until 2010. I get a lot more use out of the bastards than I do out of the digital camera which cost me twice as much, so I really shouldn't complain.
