Two nights ago, on our way to eat Mexican food, the moon was especially beautiful. The most compelling part of its appearance? The oddity.

It was a deep shade of orange, and it looked to be a squashy, egg-shape. Interesting, so a picture had to be taken:

Last week when it snowed, I foolishly thought it might be the last one of the season. As such, I told the boys they'd better suit up and enjoy it - and they did. The following picture is from Feb. 25th:

The moon was gorgeous tonight. A beautiful, crisp winter moon. I love winter moons because I can enjoy them for so many more hours, it seems. It take the summer moons forever to rise above trees, but the winter moons are up by 6:30pm or so.

However, it was a bit too cold tonight, so I came back inside after only a minute or two with the binoculars

Score!

I figured out how to add a component* to my journal layout a few nights ago, but I finally added something to the space just now. For the moment, my lunar love is proudly proclaimed. :-)

I have such a fascination with the moon. It probably borders on "freakish," to be honest, but I embrace that. I've tried for months now - MONTHS - to get a good picture of the full moon during my monthly binocular-spectacled night viewings. Without having a tripod, I just am unable to hold still enough to focus my small camera on an object so very ( Read more... )
