That didn't go well.

I'm at risk of losing a friend, and not because we couldn't come to a compromise. It's just how he views situations. I demoted him in another guild because he was never there, and apparently that's a form of betrayal. How? He never did anything there, and because we don't particularly like how he handles himself, we want him to earn it when the guild is up and running fully. He left it anyhow.
I'm not betraying him, just asking him to grow up a bit and enhance his ability to RP. For all that I've known him, he's been retaining the same traits with his sophistication growing. Going nowhere, but looking better doing it.

I don't want to watch him walk away. This isn't about him as a person, just his ability to manage characters and a guild.
