Time passes and with such passing, things changed. Collie wondered from time to time about those that faded in and out of her life.

Thoughts drifted to Draven and whatever became of him. All she had to remind her of him in the physical sense was an impression in wax of the medallion he wore at his throat. Every man that she'd had a successful relationship with had great strength of character. They each answered to their own code of honor and often marched to different drummers. Those men were not unlike the lady herself in that respect.

Diana had been in hiding for several months. Orion had been with her all that time. The couple was inseparable.

Dee was tired of being cooped up. Mob or no mob, it was time to get back to the business of living. She rolled over and whispered in O's ear, "Time to ride, Hunter." Diana rolled out of bed and showered. She forgoed her usual flightsuit for a pair of well fitted black jeans, calf height boots, and a leather jacket. Diana swept her hair under the helmet and hauled her Harley out of the driveway into the street.

As she mounted the bike, she recalled the events past that had brought her to where she was. She never did understand why her father didn't get the idea that she was her own woman, not his clone. There was too much fire in her, far too much of her mother. Orion was the one thing in her life that had been constant. He never let her down, but always told her the flat truth, no punches pulled. Things had come full circle. It had been over a year since she had first met Orion. The last thing she had expected when they met was love, but it grew. It grew from a strong friendship, perhaps that was the best way.

A few weeks had passed since she'd sat for hours in the hospital beside a stranger. Rhi's mind wandered as she held the hand of a man fading in and out of consciousness. There was something past the surface, that seemed to urge her to dig farther. Too many people had written off others because of how they spoke or acted, Rhi was determined to find out what lay within. She wondered if he would remember the scent of her lilac perfume or the sound or her voice as she told stories to try to draw him out of the coma.

When he finally woke, he didn't seem to need her anymore. Rhi needed to find out why she was drawn to him. They had a chance meeting in Star's End, but it seemed clear that he had no conscious memory of her. At least that's how it appeared until they come in contact again. Rhi had introduced herself the first time, she knew she did, yet, he didn't recollect her name when it came time to make introductions.

As she pondered the possibilities of memory loss from concussion, Rhi couldn't help but notice the watchful eye of Kitten upon her. It was then she realized that would never be able to be thought of as an adult that could take care of herself. She was forever to be Rhi, the small child, with a dueling blade. Suddenly, her table companion excused himself, Rhi couldn't help but wonder if it was in part from the stares of the apparent protection squad of two. Rhi headed to the ladies room as he went off to speak to someone.

Primarily, she'd gone to think. "Good move, Rhi. Start things by telling tales" was the thought that ran through her head. She told Buck that she was going to be employed at NCU for the coming term. It wasn't exactly a lie, she was taking over the management of that stables for a while, yet, it wasn't quite the truth. As she washed her face, Rhi wondered exactly how do you walk up to someone and say, "Hi. I'm Rhi, and I'm supposed to watch over all the children alive." She shook her head and muttered, "Yeah.. that will go over as well as my grandpa's name is Zeus." As she walked out of the ladies room and back into the bar, she saw who he was speaking to. It was then that she took her leave. Even if it was only polite conversation, Rhi knew there was no way to compete with someone who had far more knowledge of men than she did of weapons and magery. She made a quiet exit from the bar rather than wait and look foolish.

She felt awkward gazing at those gates. They were wrought iron with a pain of rearing unicorns facing each other. Kirin knew that with a simple wave of her hand the gates would open and the land would welcome her. This was not home for her now. Home was in an antebellum house on the outskirts of Rhydin. Home was with her new husband and their children.

Save one, the children were girls and brought to them by luck and circumstances. Augustus was five months old and progressing a bit ahead of normal children. Emily had become territorial and tended to remain at home. Nannies were hired to look after Jessie and Mary. Jessie liked travelling to town, having the nannies allowed for the excursions in safety.

Kirin headed for her new home with a smile on her face, much was yet to come.

The Lasher family had been living at Navarra for some time. It was hard to readjust for Colleen at times. With so many that had come back, she coped with often awkward things like Draven being a new father as well as terrible twos. Even as far advanced as her son was, he was still a toddler and save for with Rhi, often had a difficult time sharing.

Diana was turning two in a few months while her counterpart was partially hiding from the mob. Diana had been lucky in the respect that Orion had become a part of her life. It was odd how a friendship had become so much more.

Rachael was to turn three in February, her counterpart was helping to care for the youngest of her siblings as was Rhi's.

Rhi never gave up her training with her blade. She often hoped to continue in the arena, yet, some things kept her away. She had friends, but never became too attached in the sense that she tried to avoid falling in love. Her heartstrings were tugged by someone, but word was that he hadn't been around in some time.

Collie had faced what her children had been dealing with all along. The knowledge that another part of herself now existed in Rhydin. The woman lead a totally separate life, a life that Collie would never know, nor would it be a part of her future. She learned that a child had born in July, a child that would not be her own, as his father was dead. Romance had blossomed for the woman that was her, but years older. It boggled the mind how tangled things were.
