The character of Kirin should be explained more fully at a later time. She is an older version of Collie, twenty years or so, that returned to stop Collie from receiving a message and in doing so, changing the path of her life.

This story goes into the realm of fan fiction as Dana Scully and Fox Mulder are used in the story. The characters were being role-played at the time.

Emily, Mary, and Jessica are the property of their player.

Kirin was a bit stunned at Fox's question. Did she want to leave home? Mary and Jessica were safe with Dana. Emily, for the moment, was with Sammie. The one thought rattling in her head was, "How did she get out?" They made sure the room was made as comfortable as possible with Emily's toys and various types of music. Most importantly, all windows were sealed to avoid escape in that manner. There was only one doorway through which an escape could be made, but it would require paralyzation or killing of what Emily would see as a captor.

When she returned home, Kirin inspected the room where Emily had been. She found Rachael sprawled on the floor from the effects of the poison in her system. After administering the antidote, there wasn't much else to be said. Emily was a dangerous predator, baby or not. Kirin often found it odd how Emily could find her way 30 clicks to the bar from their home, yet seemed so helpless. The truth was out, Emily was no more helpless than a pack of hunting lionesses. She would stop at harming no one to have her own way. The question was, what exactly was she after? Kirin had no time to figure that out as she ushered Rachael to pack her things. They needed to get Augustus as far from there as possible. No animal is more dangerous than one defending her young.

She left word for Fox that she would see him soon.

Kirin pondered possibilities of what to do about Emily. There were a lot of possibities running through her mind. One thing was clear, as long as Emily continued to act in this manner, she and Fox would never be able to have any children of their own. It was too risky. Sibling rivalry among normal children was bad enough, but when one was a possible killer, there were no options. Despite the precautions, if Kirin did become pregnant, what then? Would her unborn child be at risk? It was something Kirin hoped she would not have to face.

The gentlest solutions are often the best, yet, often the most difficult. She had to talk it over with Fox, but somehow, it seemed the best thing. Ever since Dana had started her examinations of Jessica and Mary, she knew them better than Kirin. Somehow, the fey woman felt left out and in the dark from things that went on with children that were supposed to be her daughters. Truth was, since Dana had begun her study, she spent more time with them. Kirin was reminded of when Nicole was placed in a hospital by Dr. Ken Dones. The man in his zeal to make a medical break through had separated the girl from her mother. Had she known that Damon was by their daughter's side things would have been different, however, neither man had thought to tell her. "Old wounds," thought Kirin, "let them heal." It seemed pretty clear in Kirin's mind who the girls really belonged with. The hard part would be explaining her feelings to Fox.

They awaited news of Dana, who was in labor. Kirin had weighed her options carefully and a lot of factors would determine the end, but in her heart, she felt she knew what was best for all three of the girls.
