Tonight's Quote of the Day goes to my Dad.

"When you use predictive text, if you try to type coal, the first two words it comes out with are anal and cock."
"...."

Tonight's football was emotional. We've slid out of the Premiership without ever really letting anyone know we were there, but that was our first home win, and it was the last home game of the season. Sigh. The players stuck around to clap the fans, people like Justin Hoyte and Anthony Le Tallec got good receptions when they went off because they're only on loan and won't be around next season. Much love to Hoyte, though, who stayed about ten minutes longer than the rest of the players and was blowing kisses and waving and stuff, as opposed to Le Tallec, who I think will be glad to be back at Liverpool. He made a comment earlier in the season along the lines of "I wake up every morning and thank god I'm only here for a year." Yeah, nice way to endear yourself to the fans, Tony.

We're going to the away game on Saturday, so we'll see the players again, but it was still sad. Arca is a legend and he probably won't still be around next season either, now we've been relegated, so clapping him was pretty sad. Sigh. I love Julio. Though if this Quinny consortium bid goes through, we might hang on to some of our better players because they'll have a) more money to offer better contracts and b) better prospects of getting promoted and staying up. Because the thing about Sunderland is, most of the players who come here, stay here, or at least talk about how much they loved it when they've left. The place itself might be a shithole, and the team is often utter wank, but the FANS care. Even Thierry Henry said so after he got a standing ovation on Monday when Arsenal were hammering us and he'd played a blinder for them.

I really hope the takeover bid goes through. Niall Quinn is the perfect person because he looves the club and epitomises everything I just talked about in terms of ex players.

"I learned my trade at Arsenal, became a footballer at Man City, but Sunderland got under my skin. It hurt me deeply to leave. I love Sunderland." ~ Niall Quinn
