So, the pope is visiting the UK, it's a state visit and he was invited by the government and the Queen. Cool. I don't really care who the UK invites to visit, but I do want to mention a couple of things in passing. I mean, it won't come as a surprise to anyone reading this that I don't like the pope, at all. In fact, I think he's a force for evil in the world. I certainly don't think this of all the members of the RCC, but the guy at the top, unchristian at best, evil at worst.
He hasn't killed anyone, directly, nor has he raped anyone, but he's facilitated and preached about things that have lead to rape and killings and other abuse and crimes all over the world. He is the absolute monarch of a tiny accident of history that handily serves the function of concentrating a good deal of the misogyny in the world in one part of Rome.
I have a lot of difficulty understanding why that's seemingly ok because large numbers of people who are also part of the RCC do amazing works and help millions, if not billions, of people, almost in spite of his words and actions.
So yeah, I'd protest. I suppose it's just lucky that for most of the UK the pope is only an issue for three days, unlike all the people who will be scared for life due to his action and inaction.
