In a car on the I-5 either going to or coming from San Francisco
- "I hate being in love,"
- "You're telling me! I can't believe he has a girlfriend, and he didn't even tell me about her. I'm in love with the kid! He-"
- "He doesn't love you the same way! To him, you're just best friends."
- "I know, I know. And, you know, it really takes two people to 'be in love'"
- "Exactly. Other wise you're just 'falling in love'. 'Being in love' is having someone there to catch your fall. And when they're not there, the fall hurts a lot. Believe me, I know. Recently I'v been looking back on high school to find that I only fell hard for one person, who didn't catch my fall. Well, actually, he sorta caught me, only to drop me further."
- "I know what you mean. My guy didn't even tell me he had a fucking girlfriend. By the way, did I mention that I told him how I feel about him?"
- "No, wait. What happened?"
- "He seemed really cool about it, not interested, just open to the way I felt. You know he listened to me pour out my heart to him and he didn't even mention he's dating some girl. I mean, the friend side of me wishes that he-"
- "The friend side of you? There is no friend side of you! You are in love with the guy. No matter how long you've been best friends, it changed when you started having feeling for him. Especially now that he knows, you guys are gunna have to redefine your friendship quite a lot."

- "Well, DUH! Of course you were. But what do you expect?"
