Latest obsession: Eric Bana joins the rank of fav mature actors

Sep 05, 2012 09:13

One of my friend with whom I used to gush and talk about goodlooking actors always tease me about my taste on men who tend to run to the older side. And my response was and is the same: I kind help who I find attractive (to phrase it for polite conversation). In my mind right now (which was 2 years from those chat with my particular friend; my other friends tend to just nod their understanding) I can confidently shout: "Hell yeah! Older guys are hot, sexy and mature). So what?" It's really the way I'm wired. I NEVER like Justin Bieber (no offense to fans of him) who said friend is crazy about. *sigh* I kinda miss debating with this friend now; even if back then I was exasperated that no one shared my taste. Come to think of it, I think I've another friend who was puzzled by my taste.

And so, since I'm bored, I decided to list as many actors, who I like in the past and present (but no, I can't predict the future though I'd wager and place my heart with older dudes *wink*) as I can remember.

1. Eric Bana (born '68 age 44)
comment: I checked his birthdate on wikipedia (to verify that my taste is still with old men) and lo and behold, I found that he is almost as old as my dad 0.0 (Don't read into it too much!)

How I come to like: Thanks to certain m/m n0vel (Cut & Run series) I read whose author chose this actor as a muse for her MC. As a result, I was exposed to tons of pictures of the actor's gorgeous face ^^ *blissful* He currently stars as my desktop background (which lead me to realise that I'm really infatuated thus this post was born). To be honest, I haven't watch anyrecent movies which he stars in. As such, Hanna (2011) is high on my list. And yeah, I like his fullbody pose *grin* Coupled with the novel narration running as background music, my brain just go high and high and high ~~

2. Karl Urban (born '72 age 40)
comment: He comes in second just because I like Eric Bana slightly more than him (sorry Karl).
How I come to like: Just like Eric Bana, Karl Urban is the muse for the another MC from abovementioned novel series. And after some oggling of the actor's photos, I'm hooked ;D

3. Chaning Tatum (born '80 age 32)
comment: Okay, so turns out he isn't that old (I can just see my friend's eyes rolling). Anyway, let's just say the people I worship are 28++ (medium age... LOL)

How I come to like: I can't exactly remember but I think it must have come when I was comparing him with other hunky guys who have starred in one or another of MARVEL superhero movie francises (let me consult my small list of said actors...) Here goes the list:

Ryan Reynolds -> green lantern
Ryan Gosling -> drive
Chris Evans -> Captain America
Channing Tatum -> G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Actually I don't really like Channing character in G.I. Joe *shrug* The other actors I just had brief crushes on. Oh, Ryan Gosling never got sucked into performing in comic superheroes! But I like his looks in the movie Drive (2011). Chan's movie  Magic Mike (2012) is on my to-watch list ;D

4. Gale Harold (born '69 age 43)
comment: Oh hell yeah! I saw a picture of him I saved in my document and fall all over him again. He is just sexy and has such a smothering intense look about him.

How I come to like: I watched the US drama Queer As Folk (2000-2005) and totally like his character. It doesn't hurt that I got to see so much skin (chiefly of his) in this show. And liking him seem to underscore my pref; I just don't like twinky Justin (played by Randy Harrison who was around 22 yrs old during filming).

5. Ryan Gosling (born '80 age 31 -b'day in Nov-)
comment: Huh, so he is the same age as Tatum.
How I come to like: I love him when I saw him on Drive movie trailer! His character's cool and calm demeanor racing through the city streets, with the ever-present toothpick stickin out of his mouth, is just a feast for the eyes. YUM!

6. Hyde (born '69 age 43 -b'day in Jan)
comment: I swear this lead singer of band L'Arc~en~Ciel looks so youthful I was fooled and thus shocked when I found out how much older he was. Nevertheless, he and his team mates rock my world with their awesome music! YEAH!

7. Bae Yong Joon (born '72 age 40)
comment: With him, I first realised my so-not latent attraction towards mature dudes. I still remember how the newspaper and magazines claimed that this actor main fan-base were middle-age housewives (darn! I was still a blushing innocent teen then *roll eyes at self-description* but yeah this corrupted soul is currently 1 foot past the threshold of hell)
How I come to like: Winter Sonata, what else? It was when K-drama first aired in my country so many yrs back.

Other artist worth mentioning: (I'm sure they were above 25 when I chance upon them.. LOL):
Keanu Reeves (48), Nicolas Cage (48), Pierce Brosnan (59) [Holly Mooo, these duds could be my dad! *faint*]
Jin Akanishi & Kazuya Kamenashi (Gokusen 2), Oguri Shun
Ju ji hoon (Princess Hours), So ji Sub (Memories of Bali)

And it certainly is an oddity that I used to like Daniel Redcliff many years ago when I was still crazy over Harry Potter. Oh hell, recalling him seems to open the barrage on teenage memories and idols. There was this Taiwanese boyband "F4" that I was so crazy over I got their posters all over my bedroom. But the deviant that I was, I refused to follow other people in their no1 craze over Jerry Yan. I much preferred Ken Zhu and Vic Zhou.

So, as the wind has left my sail, and I can't remember many more of these older boys (I'm so dead set going against convention and the general infatuation over K-pop singers) I shall conclude my narration here. *yawn*

actors, movie, long nights
