Slow puttering today

Aug 05, 2014 23:16

Today I relaxed this morning. I went back to bed after getting up early and slept in till 9:30.

I finally got up and just sat with my laptop on the couch in our room and did stuff.

My dear daughter and our grandson came in to hangout with me. I went for a walk in the flowers and showed them to 4 mo Desmond again. We sat facing them. I held him so he could smell them and so he could just touch them with his fingertips but not grab and rip them. I'd put his face down above the flower so he could smell it, but he'd open up his mouth wide! LOL. Babies!

I picked some Priscilla's Rainbow daylily flowers that were in bloom and took them over to my dear friend Ankaret. Her husband died last week. She is so busy with her projects and has so much going on in her life that I doubt it will take long before her life is back on track. Already she was going to go get some thyme to transplant between her walkway steps.

I came back home and Willem and his mom had gone to town for some groceries. Alida and Jean and baby Desmond had gone to do things, too. I hadn't been here all alone in a long time, so came in and did nearly nothing. :)

I went to town to go to the bank, then went off to Home Depot to order the windows and sliding glass doors to have them delivered in a few weeks. I sat for a long time talking to the windows man to figure out what I wanted to do.

I came home and came back upstairs to relax. When Alida came home I went down to see them and to hold the baby again.

We had a nice supper Willem had made, sliced potatoes and salad. Afterwards, Willem drove his mom to Ottawa to stay with one of the eldest daughters, Erin, for a couple of days.

I went to Mera and got some thyme from the edges where it grows under the bushes, brought it home and planted it along the edge of the pond lane near the daylilies.

I went swimming by myself, then scooped some floating bits of nature off the top of the water.

I opened the bbq and discovered a large paper wasp nest under the rack. I took it out, put it on the lane and stepped on it. I don't know if there were any bees in it, but I didn't see any. I figured it was late enough in the evening that they would be dormant if they were in there. It seemed pretty empty, though. Dunno why.

I wanted to water the thyme, but didn't have a bucket or enough back strength.

I discovered a lovely flower in bloom, a Double Ethel. The leave were so yellow, I don't think they are doing very well on that pond lane. I dug it up and planted it along the house lane inbetween some others. I also planted the Pink Rocks, I think it's called, which I bought yesterday at Whitehouse Gardens with Willem and Oma Lily.
