I have no idea what got me onto this train of thought, either...
I think it was obsessing over the Gargoyles
DVD I got for Christmas. I'd forgotten how much I love(d) the show until recently.
(Random side note: I also really, really want the
second season DVD.)
Anyway.
Naturally, since LiveJournal has basically taken over my life, I went and clicked on "gargoyles" in my interests list on my userinfo, just to see what I'd come up with.
Basically, I found three awesome comms:
brooklynfans, because Brooklyn is my favorite character and he pwns;
And also,
gargoyle_clan and
stone_by_day, both of which seem to be really awesome fancomms - not so active they'll rape my flist like
fm_alchemist, but active enough that they're worth joining. Which I did.
This led me to discover
disneyafternoon. I don't know how many of the Haremers will remember this...I know
kousuke_blade does, since we SQUEE'd over it together, and
karmaside probably will, too. Dunno who else. Anyhoo - it's basically a fancomm for the Disney Afternoon, the after-school block of cartoons that ran on the Disney Channel when I was a kid. Among my favorites were Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin, Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers, Duck Tales, Goof Troop, and, of course, Gargoyles. The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules were also in there somewhere, though I'm not sure if they ran on the Disney Afternoon or not. I don't think they did. Point being, I suddenly felt very nostalgic and also missed my DirecTV at home a lot, since at home we have Toon Disney, which is glorious and has on it a bunch of those old shows.
All my Gargoyles exploration also led me to remember that at one point, a loooong time ago, I stumbled across some really fabulous 'scripts' fans had written for Gargoyles episodes following the second season (beacause, as any good fan knows, Goliath Chronicles mostly just pretty much sucked ass). So I went treasure hunting...and found it!
Gargoyles Fans is just pretty much a really badass website with all sorts of awesome stuff on it.
The Gargoyles Saga was the home of the scripts I remembered. So that's probably what I'll be reading for the next couple of weeks instead of my usual shitload of FMA, Harry Potter and Avatar fics (excepting, of course, stuff from my flist. Ex dee). A while back, I did actually get pretty far into the
Timedancer series a while back and loved it. Highly recommended to any Gargoyles fan, especially fellow Brooklyn lovers like myself. Fascinating and beautifully-written stuff.
'Course, it occurred to me a few minutes ago that it was entirely possible that torrents of season two and the Goliath Chronicles (which I'd probably end up watching, too, just for old times' sake) probably exist. Then I remembered that uTorrent hates me right now, and also that I don't have enough room on my hard drive for an entire 'nother show, and also that the cord for my external hard drive is missing. Fammit.
Anyway, my nostalgia fit pretty much ends there. But dang. I really wish it were 1994 again. Life pwned when I was eight.
Apologies for the two massive updates in one day. XDDD
...okay, I lied. I have to do this.
One thousand years ago,
Superstition and the sword ruled.
It was a time of darkness.
It was a world of fear.
It was the age...of gargoyles.
Stone by day, warriors by night,
We were betrayed by the humans we had sworn to protect,
Frozen in stone by a magic spell for a thousand years.
Now, here in Manhattan,
The spell is broken, and we live again!
We are defenders of the night...
...We are Gargoyles!
...And yes, that comes straight from memory.
Okay, now I'm done. XDD
*goes to look for external cord*
-EDIT-1:30- omg nostalgia is everywhere. I gacked a 90s meme from
demon_wolf and...wow. XDDD
