Too cold!

So... cold...

This weekend, there was a large craft Christmas festival type thing downtown, and I roped Leah and Nick and Ruth for a bit into going with me! Yay, craft fairs! Actually, it was pretty neat, in that they had table decorating contests (How awesome is that Grinch table? I love the candy vases and topiaries! Why aren't we having meals at tables decorated like that?) and door decorating contests and other exciting things! The shopping? Not so much. There were a few good booths in there, but not many. I ended up just buying stuff from the local no-kill shelter. I got a scratching post and some catnip knots (like garlic knots, but not.). I thought I would save them for Christmas, but there's no hiding Christmas gifts from the cats when there's catnip involved! (Arioch was thrilled, as you can see. I think he got more exercise on Saturday than all year!)

Then, when we dragged ourselves away from the bright lights and candies, snow! I hate snow, but everyone else was delighted :) I'm just sad that Nicky, who wanted snow most of all, was out of town for it. But they're predicting it again next week, so maybe she'll get to see it then!

It may not be snowing today, but all the puddles I passed on my way in were ice-covered. And my coat is officially Not Warm Enough. It seemed much warmer this summer! But I guess it's really just a transitional coat. Guess I'll see if my old coat has another year in her!

Anyway, I disagree with this weather! We got our first snow on the same day that Chicago got their first snow! That's hardly "the south" now, is it? What happened to our 70 degree winters? (Yes, there was only one. Yes, it was during a drought. It set high expectations, though!)

I hope you're keeping warm! (And someone just said I was free to use their kettle to warm up tea here at work, so I'm suddenly much less grumpy about the weather.)
