Advent Mystery Socks

Hm. Some discounted Black Friday yarn arrived at my house on Tuesday. Sock yarn for a pair I promised almost a year ago. Maybe longer? She asked for only all white or all black. Do you know how hard it is to find all white yarn? (No way am I knitting all black socks again. It about killed my eyes, and then when I was done, I saw that the socks were subtly striped. Curse you Shibui Socks!) I could find undyed yarn, but that was cream, not white. Even at SAFF, the only white, machine washable yarn I found was just too scratchy to buy! But at Carodan Farm's annual Black Friday sale, I found some On Line Cosmo. Machine washable! Tiny Cashmere content! Ok, it says Ecru, but I've been looking for over a year! Ecru suddenly became white enough.

And then, the next day, I realized that Stephanie van der Linden's Advent Mystery Sock had started without me! But she was kind enough to email me the first part of the pattern. And it's GORGEOUS! Well, I expect nothing less from her. She's definitely one of my top ten favorite sock designers!

Anyway, it is too good of a coincidence of events to ignore! My vow to only knit two things for Christmas has gone out the window! Well, I am pretty sure it won't be done by Christmas, but people like Chinese New Year gifts too, right? (Feb 2, year of the rabbit)
