the past few days

Saturday met up with my mom's side of the family for New Year's.  Much good food and awesome company.  Was not pleased when my chunk of flounder turned out to be all egg; thank goodness my dad was nice enough to swap with me.  The soup was really good (shark fin I think); my first bowl didn't have any cilantro in it.  :)  Went back for another bowl and a half, a first for me.  Real Chinese food.  Yay.  Got to see my cute little second cousin.  Also, the news is official that my cousin, his wife, and child who are currently in Japan will be visiting this month.  It'll be the first time we've seen them in a year I think.  :)  My mom gave me a care package of chocolate peanut balls and ginger molasses cookies dipped in white chocolate.  My aunt also gave me the Chinese buns that have a creamy pineapple filling (I know how to say their name, but errr, not quite sure how to spell it...).  I really miss my family, especially my parents.  If I didn't have crew practice Monday morning, I'd have gone home.  :/  Also, I will not be going home spring break because there's crew practice; my days look like practice, lunch, practice, sleep for six of the seven days of break.

My unsureness of being sick or having allergies started to shift towards being sick Sunday when I didn't have an appetite for my mom's sweets.  I feel really bad that I didn't eat a lot of it.  I shared with the dormmates though.  I'm still unclear as to what symptoms were allergies (runny/stuffy nose) and what's the cold (disorientation, sore throat), although I can guess.

Monday due to the team being short a rower and a cox, I got to cox the 4 (i.e. instead of rowing in a boat of 8, I got to navigate and yell at a boat of 4).  It was fun. :)  I kinda like yelling at everyone. XD  Started watching the Dance in the Vampire Bund anime.  Which is just different enough from the manga that I dont' know what's going to happen next.  It has me hooked. XD  Also, with Akira having amnesia in the anime (in the manga, I'm pretty sure he does too, but there's waaaay less memory loss), the whole Akira/Mina ship is hitting my shipping kink like whoa.  I think I'll wait until the season/series is finished before watching the rest though.

Took some Alka Setlzer before going to bed.  I went to bed early; 10:20pm.  Woke up at 1:30am feeling nauseous.  Slunk around the room a bit.  Ran to bathroom.  Went back to room and puked in the sink.  Repeat once more.  That was the most violent vomiting I've ever done; it was a freaking ab work-out.  I'm pretty sure it was the Alka Seltzer that made me vomit.  Decided to see the doctor today because of it just to be safe; the last time I had the same symptoms, I wound up vomiting a week straight, unable to hold ice down (thus me being quite serious when I say it was some pretty violent vomiting).  After an hour of nausea, I stayed up another 3 hours.  Watched Fruits Basket because that's what I watch when I'm sick, and ep 5 and 6 of Dance in the Vampire Bund.  I suppose watching Blood+ would've been the efficient thing to do, but I wanted something happy (lol, yeah, like Dance is happy).  The lesson learned was I don't like being nauseous and vomiting, so I will not get drunk during college.  Needless to say, I skipped crew this morning.  No longer nauseous today luckily.  Sore throat is easing up too; still seeing the doctor tomorrow though.  Am going to crew tomorrow though.

Also:
- I'm fairly certain I missed the ice skating events of the Olympics.  ARRRRRGH.  I missed Mao Asada and Yu Na Kim.  And Davis and White.  SADNESS!
- Realized I've already missed more writing assignments than I should've for my Amer Lit class. >.<  That's what I get for waiting a month to plan out what I could miss.  I will be slightly miffed if those (minimum) of 5 points I miss could've been what got me an A in the class.  Of course the prof did mention she'd drop the lowest score, so maybe....
- WAIT NO, I HAVE NOT MISSED MY ICE SKATING.  HELL YES.  ONLY MISSED PAIRS, AND I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT.  Might've missed the men's short program, but I HAVE NOT MISSED MAO ASADA AND YU NA KIM.  HELL YEAH.
- Major love for my aunt and uncle.  My aunt sent me a care package of home made chicken noodle soup, bread, Emergen-C, cold medicine, and more water bottles after hearing I'm sick.  My uncle drove up to drop it all off. <3
