Cats are bad with dates. Being cats, they will never remember your birthday, and Christmas means little more to them than ribbons and a cozy spot under the tree. Don't even bring up anniversaries or other holidays

Damn, that cat loves you. To do battle with the terrible humbaba and shew you its dread corpse!
XD
You should definitely tell about the mouse-killing. I'm sorry I missed the actual mouse-hunt in my house. I love watching cats with their prey. If that makes me cruel, oh well. They're cats. It's what they're supposed to do.
My cats haven't presented me with rodentia of their esteem, but that may be because of an overall lack of rodents - a condition with which I am just as pleased, and attribute to the cats' bold and dangerous reputations about town.
Now if only Adron would keep in practice some way other than attacking my hands when I'm asleep....
I am going to tell all my cat-owning LJ friends to save time and friend you, because every time you tell a cat story I rupture something trying not to laugh at work and then post a link on my LJ.
Mine don't share. On the rare occasions Micky catches a mouse, she hides it from me so I don't take it away. They have yet to kill. I don't know if this is a relief or not.
If they like to hide it, it's better when they don't kill it. Otherwise they end up pushing dead mice under the fridge or something, and you only learn about it days later when the stench becomes overpowering.
I always liked it when my outside kitty brought me live but crippled prey. I'm sure that makes me sick in some way, but it was so touching that she wanted to teach me to hunt . . . I do miss her.
My best story along this line was when I was younger. Our cat was an indoor/outdoor cat and loved to hunt. One day the cat darts in the door as I opened it and I noticed he was carrying something. He went upstairs and under the bed. I followed and the cat zoomed out. When I looked under the bed I saw a bird. It looked like one of those ornamental things ao I reached to pull it out but as soon as I touched it, it sprang to life and hopped away. It took an hour to encourage the bird to a window and for it to fly out.
God, my old cat was always bringing birds into the house. At least once a week he'd do it, and my mom would wake me up screaming. I never understood why she got so mad.
Unfortunately for our cats we don't have huntable rodents. (Though someimtes, at night, I have heard weird scritching sounds in the attic just above my bed...) So our brave cats hunt plastic bags. Small, baggie-sized bags are their favorite prey. Nothing that comes packaged in a plastic bag is safe from these 2 fearless predators - whether its wood screws or pantyhose.

Well, other cat owners probably will.
I'm cracking up just thinking about it!

I always feel like such a dork for doing cat posts, but the kitties are just so cute. And, odd as it sounds, I dearly love waking up to dead vermin.
Best birthday present ever? A whole dead mole, presented to me by my outdoor kitty. How she got it is beyond me. Simply amazing.
