Witches' Mark Chapter 16: The Seed of a Lie is up over at fever_dreams!
Good chapter, even though Stormy's not in it. I like Eldarra a lot. The "freakishly effective kung-fu pain jab" finger thing really works, by the way, even if you are a super-tiny person.
It's hard to walk the line between understandable evil and genuine evil, between force and seduction, between "moar please" and "yuck." The dynamic between Winter and Darius is a real tightrope act at times. It's a new experience; I don't like Winter as a person at all, but I completely empathize with and understand why Darius wants to be around him. It can be really hard bringing that across, and I'm always afraid I'm not getting it quite right.
We're going to a Stormy chapter next, and I am afraid to say there will be some fireworks and then, alas lots of hot sex. So, you know, just resign yourselves to that.
This is a much less sex-heavy book than P&P was, but I am really enjoying the character development and the smaller cast.
