Well, alainbriongloid asked me for a list of movies I never want to see again, and I couldn't resist the opportunity. So, I compiled a partial catalog of stuff I could go the rest of my life without seeing ever again ( Read more... )

movies, movie reviews, media, subliminal bees

Thank god I'm not the only one who pissed herself over Event Horizon. My husband and I started watching one time at night and got about 20 minutes in. I told him he could either finish it alone, or wait for daylight. Freaked me the fuck out ( ... )

That's why I find 'Conspiracy' so disturbing. If you've never seen it, I think you should. Its based off of documentation left over from WWII, concerning the Holocaust. Basicly, its a dozen high ranking Nazi's, sitting around a table, drinking wine and eating fine foods, discussing how the Jews turn pink after they've been gassed.

I'm going to have to see that. In return, if you or anyone else hasn't seen Costa-Gavras's Music Box, I strongly recommend it. Don't be put off by the fact that Joe Eszterhas wrote the script.

The contrast between Conspiracy and Saving Private Ryan (which I haven't seen yet) rather reminds me of that between older Hollywood movies, which conveyed a great deal of sensuality through implication and suggestion; and many modern ones, which despite acres of bare skin manage to make sex mundane and boring.

You've hit the nail on the head there. Yeah, sometimes its fun to see the actual bits and bobbles and details, but your imagination is the best and worst (in the case of Event Horizon) tool ever!

I'm a bit young to remember that movie coming out, but I'll bet my husband did. I'll see if any of his friends might have a copy for me to borrow; it sounds really good. Thanks for the recc!

I saw the first Resident Evil, and you know, as zombie flicks go, it wasn't so bad. But it wasn't GOOD, either, and even the extreme presence of Michelle Rodriguez, who I have a big ol' bisexual crush on, could not induce me to see it a second time. And I can't think of anything that would make me see the sequels.

#2 pretty much was boring as sin, but #3 was really as good, if not better than the first, IMHO.

Yeah, see, I think half my problem with Resident Evil is that I'm not into zombies. I know I'm about to commit some serious heresy here, but I can't stand the Living Dead series (Or whatever it was with Ash). My friends in hs loved 'em, and I had to watch them so many times I'm just sick to death of them. I'm just not a zombie girl!
