Well, alainbriongloid asked me for a list of movies I never want to see again, and I couldn't resist the opportunity. So, I compiled a partial catalog of stuff I could go the rest of my life without seeing ever again ( Read more... )

"I had to watch it a few times in the daylight before I could be okay with it."

Ah. That's the thing. I don't desensitize very well. I really don't. If something is horrible the first time, it's horrible the 27th time.

I wish it hadn't freaked me out so badly, because I recall it being a good movie, and I wish I could have appreciated it on a level other than "SCARIEST THING EVER."

"I just love this movie and some of the music from it, because it is incredibly campy and takes me back to a time of relative innocence in my life."

Hey! I think I figured it out. I saw this movie literally like, 10 times during the worst year of my teenage life. That miiight have something to do with it.

Still don't like the dragon, though. Dragons should be cool. Like the one in Sleeping Beauty!

"When the young men on the beach started holding their own guts in and calling for their mothers, I was in a ball of tears on the sticky movie theater floor, and that's where I remained for the entire movie, sobbing and wailing that I didn't want my son to have to go to war."

THAT is exactly the part that sent me to the bathroom with bile in my throat. And I stayed in that state of freak-outage for the rest of the day. Without hormonal assistance. It was bad, as if what I'd seen was real footage, even though I knew it wasn't. The only thing that helped was me thinking that even though war is hideous and these things really happened, holy crap, WWII? Totally a good cause.

I didn't know Nate was in it! I may find his clip later.

And ZOMG YES I LOVE POISON IVY. But I am ambivalent about Uma Thurman, so it didn't really help that she was in it. :'(

Nathan Fillion plays the first Private Ryan, the one who turns out to be the wrong guy. I saw the movie for the first time since I saw it in the theater (before I had any idea who he was, of course) a couple years ago and was like HOLY SHIT IT'S CAP'N TIGHTPANTS!
