Preface: Maybe I’m just slow, but you know how there’s lie, as in ‘lie down’, and lay, as in ‘lay it down over there’ (i.e. two fairly similar words which both involve putting things down flat(ish))? The past tense of lay is laid, and the past tense of lie is lay. And I know I’ve had confusion about this before (beginning of SSS3 at least, IIRC?),
