Sim Genetics Confusion

More specifically eyes - I have two cases that I swear make no sense.

Okay firstly, I just rebuilt and started playing Terry's OWBC again. He and Jan now have three kids, but the third has brown eyes. Now I went into SimPE and gave Terry recessive light blue eyes like he originally had behind his dominant dark blue ones (Jan has green eyes), but there's never been anyone with brown eyes. I would just assume that I gave Terry brown by accident, except:
Child 1: Dark blue eyes
Child 2: Green eyes
If I had given Terry Dark Blue/Brown, it wouldn't have been possible for child 2 to have green eyes at all. And I'm almost certain I didn't mess up for once, so...? I did hear something about if you do the wrong thing somehow stuff can appear brown when it's not meant to be, but I don't think I did...

The other question relates to the whole reaper child thing.
So Seth has brown eyes showing, and either dark blue or light blue recessive. When he had Winston with his wife (who had green eyes) he came out with dark blue eyes, which means Seth must have brown/dark blue. Fine.
Now I've heard that the Grim reaper is meant to have genetically dark blue eyes, which means Seth's daughter Laura should have either brown or another dark blue behind her visibly dark blue eyes. But now she's had a daughter with green eyes. Which shouldn't be possible. She can't have gotten the recessive from Seth unless Winston's eyes were an anomaly, which can only mean that... the grim reaper has a recessive? The dark blue can't be completely wrong about the grim reaper since Laura's twin Karen (who has visibly brown eyes) has had a son with dark blue eyes from a father with brown eyes. But... man am I confused.

Edit: Solved query 1; turns out there's one letter out on the code I found for light blue eyes on the internet - a b that should have been a d. I really don't understand why SimPE doesn't have a drop down list of the codes for the normal options: e43f3360-3a08-4755-8b83-a0d37a6c424b isn't exactly easy to remember or notice where something's wrong. Luckily I've got them all in a word document now and I only bothered to add recessives to generation 4 in the main hood - if I'd done the whole family I'd be really annoyed.
Still no clue about reaper children yet though since I'd have to look at SimPE on my old laptop back at uni...
