Right, so I should really stop messing with my game because I clearly have no idea what I'm doing.
See, I wanted more of a sun-down kind of effect for my next chapter and I downloaded spookymuffin's lighting mod. I couldn't get it to work at all and something happened that seemed to delete a load of stuff in the lighting folder that I hadn't touched (see edit below). In game, the neighbourhood terrain was flashing red and when I managed to enter a lot there was like no lighting at all.
So, since I'd lost the rest of my lighting folder, I decided to try a different mod - the radiance one that comes with Scriptorium. That did work once I got into a lot, but the neighbourhood was still flashing red.
So I used the Scriptorium to reset the Maxis lighting - which in lot it has, but the neighbourhood is still flashing red, even though Scriptorium seems to have reset everything to what I had before I started and restored what I lost with the spookymuffin thing. I just don't understand what's wrong with it. I could swear I haven't messed with anything else and my lighting and shadows settings are on high.
So if anyone has any ideas...?
Edit: Okay, it's possible that I massively confused the 'Lights' folder with the 'Lighting' folder and deleted something important in the lighting folder when trying to 'fix' the red neighbourhood thing when I first got it. Not entirely sure what to do about that.
I tried running the game with absolutely nothing in the 'Lighting' folder and couldn't discern a difference from before I deleted anything, so...?
I don't know, I really have to stop doing things on my own, lol.
But basically: although I have deleted something (important or not), the only problem I can see right now is the red flashy neighbourhood terrain, and that started before I deleted said lighting.package, and the things that I changed that caused RFNT seem to have been reset to before the problem. So I'm not sure if the deleted lighting.package is really the problem.
In other news, I've been making some progress on 13B - I've got 77 slides written and 16 of those shot (since they're before the actual wedding). But it's going to be a long chapter and the shooting will probably have me tearing my hair out. But hey, at least I have some lighting still :P
