FaerieCon Pt. 2: Spoils from the Faery Market

Oct 17, 2008 04:29

More pretties for your enjoyment. This barely scratches the surface of the things that I saw and wanted, but given the budget I was working with I think I did a pretty good job of spreading out my funds. Next year I know to save up more in advance ~_^

There are a few pieces I picked up that you will not see in this post, but I definitely must tell about:

I bought two 12"x17" signed prints from Kinuko Y. Craft (since her site has very explicit instructions about not copying images, I will not reproduce them here). After a good half hour deliberation over which pieces to choose, I settled on 'The Mists of the Dusklands' (seen on her site here), which will be the cover art for the upcoming novel Elfland by Freda Warrington (due from Tor Books in 2009); and a captivating portrait of Elizabeth I entitled 'The New World'. Sadly I don't have room to hang these at the moment, but one day they will get a choice spot somewhere :)

The other 'very special thing I cannot post' is a gift given to me at the end of the con by brigidashwood, one of her original graphite faery drawings called 'Heart Charm'. You all will get to see her eventually once the full color version is completed, but for now she's all mine :p This piece I absolutely will frame and hang ASAP. In fact, I'm heading to the art supply store this afternoon to look for a matte board in a complimentary color...

But you all want pictures! Here we go ~

'Victorian Witch' print by janestarrweils

More this way~

'Scratches' print by gossamerfaery

'Golden Guardian' & 'Butterfly Sunset' mini-prints by jasminetoad

'December' & 'Spring' postcards by Renae Taylor

'Tres Jolie' & Mystic Bubbles Mermaid' notecards by Katherine Kiss
(The mermaid was a surprise! I didn't realize it was in the package with the other card.)

'Kandide' & 'Cyndara' prints of Maxine Gadd art from the Kandide series, given to me & signed by Diana S. Zimmerman.
The second is the cover of the third, as yet unreleased book in the trilogy, and there currently isn't a larger version posted anywhere that I could find :(

With the jewelry I must apologize as always for the poor image quality, as these photos are all from my scanner.
Needless to say, all of the pieces look much better in person!

Cameo pendant featuring 'Pistachio Dreams' art by gossamerfaery. Beadwork by me ^_^

Gorgeous pictorial necklace by parrishrelics
The image shows a dark-haired woman playing the piano. We don't know who the artist is, but I'm putting myself to work researching it. If anyone has a lead please share!

Cameo pendant featuring 'Whisper' art by thephoenixx. This one is destined for a beading project as well...

Glass locket with 'Grey Lady' detail print by brigidashwood (left)
'Lavender Moon' porcelain cameo pendant with purple velvet choker by Jessica Galbreth (right)
Both signed.

'My Three Kitties' & 'Pale Rose' ornaments by jasminetoad
I've wanted these two for ages! The company Jasmine uses for her figurines does a stellar job on the paint.
They look fantastic in person.

I also have a heap of promotional freebies--the convention program, postcards, stickers, magnets, a sampler CD, business cards (I love business cards! I try not to collect them, but I can't stop myself :p), and a copy of Realms of Fantasy magazine (featured Gallery artist in that issue is Rebecca Guay! I adore her work.)

Altogether, I am surrounded by enough treasures to keep my memories of this magical weekend fresh for a long time. It was a wonderful social and artistic experience (I have been greatly inspired to get back to work on my own projects!), and I'm already looking forward to next year ^_^

Enough computer time for this morning, I have things to do. Now that it's finally getting colder I have to start getting my plants set up for winter, which means I need more pots and a restock of soil...
