2016.06.09 Konchuuger Review!

I seriously thought I'd already done this one! =O but I can't find the post anywhere! Oh dear... so here we go!

My seat was at the back BUT it was so good! And I felt the atmosphere was more relaxed. There were a lot of mean in their 30s, 40s, 50s around me and they were real casual and would laugh loud whenever something was genuinely funny so I felt comfortable enough to let me real laugh out and they weren't like sat straight like most girl-dominated audiences are and it really helped the atmosphere and everything become more enjoyable - do this make sense? The same happened at Mata Aou - for some reason the older audiences are much calmer and more relaxed and free to chat a little and laugh a lot and even heckle and yell at the actor during the curtain call and stuff. It's interesting the difference. I like both the 'all us fangirls are here to support the actors and we will be the perfect audience' and the 'we just wanna be entertained' atmospheres that I've experienced this far. But anyway!

This was a play I'd been eyeing since like... March but I never bought a ticket and literally the moment stills of the stage came out, I was kicking myself and was like 'I KNEW I wanted to go! I still want to go! Fuck it, I'll go!' and so the next day I ran to Shinjuku afterwork to get a Toujitsuken xD

The story is... there's this war against the evil aliens (like there is in ALL super sentais) and 6 kids drink this potion and get put into a coma for like 40 years while the potion does it's thing and when they wake up, 5 of them are super human (one unfortunately woke up from the coma quickly and didn't gain any powers and is now old) and can now fight the bad guys. BUT only Baba's character is interested in defeating them; the other 5 are like 'lets go to an onsen instead!' or 'why do we have to fight?' or 'I'm more interesting in looking beautiful!' and stuff, so you can see where the comedy is coming from...

I cried when Baba first came on stage cos like I've been watching this boy for like 8 years and he's so amazing and he's very funny and it was great being able to finally see someone who I spent so many years watching on a computer screen (mainly rewatches of Takumi-kun but shh!) and he really did not disappoint. How this boy is a 30-odd year old man yet has so much energy and is so childish - it's adorable and impressive at the same time! xD

It was also nice to see JP again. I haven't seen him since Dance with Devils and I've seen a bit more of his stuff (mainly Tenimyu) since then so I was more familiar with his work, but this was a COMPLETELY different character and I feel it fit him perfectly. We all see JP as this kinda awkward, kinda shy but also has this confidence on stage type of guy and his role was (as I said) perfect. He was a villain and his came up with the craziest ideas of how to defeat the Konchuuger's and his character was pervy too and his evil laugh was great! His comedy really shined through in this stage ^_^ BUT I always forget just how high his voice is! It's a nice voice but I always forget xD or at least DID. Now I can hear his voice perfectly in my head. I like it... anyway! ^_^

One scene of his that I loved what when they were thinking of a plan in their evil lair which is actually a very publicly open chinese restaurant (xD) and he was like:
JP: 'let's sell Blue Bottle Coffee!'
Villain Leader: No
JP: then... oppai (boobs)
VL: No...
JP: Blue bottle-
VL: No!
JP: Oppai!
VL: NO!
JP: Then Blue Bottle Oppai!

I was dead... xD

And shortly after this scene the end it with, as villains do, an evil laugh... BUT they did the laugh for a good 90 seconds or more! And it got more hilarious the longer it went on xD and finally the Chinese store owner 'turned' the lights off and the scene ended xD this laughing scene was amazing!

I definitely intend to continue watching JP just a little longer to see what else he does and to keep an eye on him, so I've already gotten tickets to Wagasamagumi <3

^^^ Oh jesus this scene!!! They actually yanked off the pegs using the string and omg I've never flinched so hard in my life. I had to hold my own chest when they did it. That poor man! He must have done that scene at least 30 times including performances and rehearsals! OUCHIES!

Another scene I loved was the Prince of Table Tennis scene xD OMG so many Prince of Tennis references were in it which makes sense cos like at least JP and Baba were in it xD And it was Saito Shuusuke, the pink rangers versus the villain couple. And they sang a song while they played and the way they did it was hilarious. They had people in black suits to hold the tennis balls that were in sticks and when the actors pretended to hit the balls, they would move the stick and make the ball shoot off stage with them xD It was really good and funny how they did it and two of the guys in the cast dressed up in strangely familiar Tenimyu attire xD and the battle ended with the villain couple too busy declaring their love for each other xD they also had like flashing lights for different effects and they did some slowmo hilarity too!

*looks at the website while writing this review* FUCK IKKEI WAS IN THIS?! what the hell?!?! How did I not know.... AND Ise Daiki?! What the hell.... they were in Tenimyu too btw... *relooks at stills*

ALSO! The pink ranger would randomly start trying to sing and Baba would immediately shoot her down and cut her off xD

I also enjoyed the scene at the onsen where one of the workers falls for Baba and she comes into his room and starts to tell him a story - we cut to a different 10 or so minute scene - and when we cut back to him, he's fallen asleep and she's still chatting away xD

Another hilarious thing was the MAIN villain. He's... how do I describe this... he's a massively muscle man with no shirt on, black tights and then... he has a crocodile over his crotch area and THAT'S the villain... I couldn't stop laughing. And it moved when he walked and just... props to whoever thought of that! xD

There's a sad part in the middle of the story when we learn about what really happened while those 5 where in a comatose state and I did feel tear wanna try to come out.

The curtain call was hilarious and Baba seriously never stops! Even during the curtain call he was still bouncing around and he even made the poor older cast member jump towards the end because Baba clapped his hands to get and stomped his foot down and was like "RIGHT! Let's do the song!" the poor man jumped xD Baba apologised of course ^_^ you're an old man yourself! Slow it down! >.<

I really liked the ending where they did a song and dance! So much fun and they go the crowded to sing certain parts and we were clapping and it was a lot of fun!

So glad this is getting a DVD!!

----

Overall: This was so funny. I was thoroughly entertained and laughing so hard! The atmosphere is always more relaxed when there's more older people in the audience and I was surrounded by them and none of us were afraid of dying of laughter which is good ^_^ being able to see Baba in the flesh was a gift <3 and I really really enjoyed JP's role and definitely showed a different side to him! I cannot wait for this DVD! I highly recommend it!
