It was madness this morning... I hit snooze 4 times and I never hit snooze. Well Ryne has his first tardy (and it is all my fault), however the van's gas tank and the rear passenger tire are both filled. And I got my venti Mocha (I sooooooo needed caffeine). I was only 4 minutes late, which didn't phase my boss since I am usually at my desk at 8:30. He waved me on and gave me a few mins to settle in before the emails started. Eh.

I think we need more covers on the bed. I may be waking in the middle of the night because I am cold. I miss the down comforter even though I am pretty sure I am allergic to it. I have to see if I am going to buy other covers or dig that one out of the closet and launder thoroughly and find a hypoallergenic cover.

I FINALLY made it to the Monday Night SnB. The 3 gals I knew were really late and the 2 gals that arrived first were... well... into each other. I mean, I was a stranger and besides getting their names that was that. They chatted away with each other, ignoring me. So I screwed up my garterlac dish-thing worse (I think I went in the wrong direction) and crocheted 3 of the eggs for the swap. Everyone else started trickling in and I really enjoyed myself. A bit rough at first but all good. Definitely interested in going back.
So tonight, I want to crochet the other 2.5 eggs. Then tomorrow will be stuffing and face sewing, to be mailed on Thursday morning just on time. Will post pix before I send.
If I really get ambitious, maybe I can get through Ryne's cable on his hat. Once the cabling is done, it goes back to mindless knitting that I can do on the run.

Rob went on a cooking tear last night. You should see my lunch plate. Flank steak, crab, buttered noodles with portabella mushrooms and stuffed shrimp & mushrooms. I don't know if I will be able to eat it all. And everyone brought lunch today. LOL, so no sharing. But oh so yummy! Go Rob! Wish I'd snapped a picture of him in his apron.

Friendship Bread
(Worksheet)
Note 1: Do NOT refrigerate.
Note 2: Do NOT use ANY type of metal spoon or bowl when mixing.
If air gets in bag, let it out.
Remember: It is normal for batter to rise, bubble and ferment.
______ Day 1 (date on bag): Do nothing with the starter.
______ Days 2-5: Mush the bag.
______ Day 6: Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar and 1 cup milk. Mush the bag.
______ Days 7-9: Mush the bag.
______ Day 10: Follow instructions below.
1. Pour entire contents of bag into a non-metal bowl.
2. Add 1.5 cup flour, 1.5 cup sugar and 1.5 cup milk. Stir.
3. Measure out 4 separate batters of 1 cup each into 1 gallon Ziploc bags. Keep one starter for yourself and give one bag and a copy of this recipe to three friends.
4. Should this not be passed onto a friend on the first day, be certain to tell the friend which day the bag is at when you present it to them.
5. To the balance (a little over one cup) of the batter left in the bowl, add the following ingredients and mix well.
1 cup oil
1/2 cup milk
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1-1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 Lg (6 oz) or 2 Sm. (3.4 oz) box instant vanilla pudding
6. Grease 2 large loaf pans (or one large bundt pan) and mix 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tsp of cinnamon. Dust the greased pans with half the cinnamon sugar.
7. Pour batter evenly into the pans and sprinkle the remaining cinnamon sugar on top.
8. Bake at 325 - 350 degrees for 1 hour.
If you keep a starter for yourself, you will be baking every 10 days. This bread is very good and makes a great gift.
There are quite a few variations out there - you can add chocolate chips, bananas, walnuts, raisins, etc.
